Saludos estimados miembros de la comunidad HIVE, tiempo sin escribir por haberme ocupado en mis estudios doctorales, pero reinicio mi participación contándoles sobre un pequeñito logro que nos llevó a mi esposa y a mí, a recordar nuestros tiempos de infancia, motivado por la llegada del mes de la alegría, de compartir y renovar nuestra fe, porque así consideramos a Diciembre mes de la navidad.
OUR HOMEMADE CHRISTMAS TREE
Greetings dear members of the HIVE community, I have not written for a long time because I have been busy with my doctoral studies, but I restart my participation by telling you about a small achievement that took my wife and me to remember our childhood times, motivated by the arrival of the month of joy, of sharing and renewing our faith, because that is how we consider December to be the month of Christmas.
En nuestro hogar la navidad comienza a mediados de Noviembre, es para mi esposa tiempo de adornar y hacer sentir el espíritu de la navidad en el espacio que le sea posible, por supuesto esto me involucra y ahora que estoy jubilado de los que fue mi trabajo formal, mis ocupaciones y falta de tiempo no son excusas para cooperar, además que yo también lo disfruto. Todo comienza con desempolvar los adornos y luces, todo un proceso de selección y diagnostico que siempre culmina en compra de nuevas luces y adornos. En ese proceso se desechó el antiguo árbol sintético de navidad, que nos acompañó por más de una década, eso sucedió hace cuatro años y no fue posible su remplazo, no por falta de disposición sino por razones económicas, pero este año desde Octubre comenzamos a buscar uno para comprarlo, aunque mi esposa tenía el dinero y las ganas de hacerlo, decidimos que los precios y las prioridades indicaban que este año tampoco era buen momento para hacer ese gasto.

It all starts with dusting off the decorations and lights, a whole process of selection and diagnosis that always culminates in the purchase of new lights and decorations. In this process the old synthetic Christmas tree, which accompanied us for more than a decade, was discarded, that happened four years ago and it was not possible to replace it, not for lack of willingness but for economic reasons, but this year since October we started looking for one to buy, although my wife had the money and the desire to do it, we decided that prices and priorities indicated that this year was not a good time to make that expenditure.
El deseo de tener un árbol de navidad, nos llevó a recordar como se hacía en otras épocas en nuestros hogares y decidimos retomar la costumbre de hacer nuestro propio árbol de navidad, al estilo de nuestra niñez, ella me entrego varias fotos de árboles caseros para que me guiara en la búsqueda del candidato que nos acompañará en esta navidad, suplantando al tradicional pino sintético que se vende en las tiendas. Por supuesto estábamos conscientes que no sería vistoso y frondoso en ramas plásticas o de cualquier otro material sintético del que lo hacen, pero haríamos nuestro mejor esfuerzo de transformarlo, de hacerlo lo más hermoso posible y que cumpliera la función de acompañarnos y fortalecer nuestro espíritu navideño. El resultado un árbol de navidad casero, una rama que durante su vida fue parte de un árbol verde y bonito, cumplió funciones vitales, nos obsequió además de su belleza el preciado oxigeno imprescindible para la vida, hoy cuando yacía muerta aquella rama seca a orilla de la carretera, lo lleve a nuestra casa y se convirtió en un hermoso adorno, al menos así lo consideramos, alegrándonos y recordándonos una lección que en la naturaleza todo se transforma, lo que es desecho para un proceso es insumo de otro. The desire to have a Christmas tree, led us to remember how it was done in other times in our homes and we decided to take up the custom of making our own Christmas tree, in the style of our childhood, she gave me several pictures of homemade trees to guide me in the search for the candidate that will accompany us this Christmas, replacing the traditional synthetic pine sold in shops. Of course we were aware that it would not be showy and leafy in plastic branches or any other synthetic material they make it from, but we would do our best to transform it, to make it as beautiful as possible and that it would fulfil the function of accompanying us and strengthen our Christmas spirit. The result is a homemade Christmas tree, a branch that during its life was part of a green and beautiful tree, it fulfilled vital functions, it gave us besides its beauty the precious oxygen essential for life, today when that dry branch was lying dead on the side of the road, I took it to our house and it became a beautiful ornament, at least that is how we consider it, making us happy and reminding us a lesson that in nature everything is transformed, what is waste for a process is input for another.
