BEGGARS CAN'T BE CHOOSERS'
Good day friends and happy weekend, welcome to another exciting #hivelearnersW19E3 contest titled 'Proverb'
Proverb (adage) is a phrase expressing basic truth about something or a wise saying which helps to instinct morals or beliefs. The proverb that had kept me going in the journey of life is 'Beggars can't be chooser'.
During my high school days, I am a type that do procrastinate and take things with levity. I do not really care about how things are done, if it does not affect me. But my Mom is my opposite; she is zealous, she does things instantly and smartly.
My behaviour does not go well with her at all, so she kept encouraging me to change, which I did not. After gaining admission to the college, she gave me a card gift precisely on my matriculation day. The words on the card are unfathomable to me, why will Mom compare me to a beggar, I'm like who does that?🤷♀
I was furious at her for giving me such gift why not expensive shoe, bag, wristwatch and the likes. Why 'Beggars can't be choosers' on a card? I never knew it had a deep meaning, so I concluded within me that she does not love me.
But when she sat me down and gave me the explanation, I realized that I had been a fool who can not read between the lines. I was made to understand that beggars are left over eaters who can never be champions or successors. They are losers who has no choice than to accept whatever that comes their way.
Since then, my view about life changed. I took the bull by the horn and determine that I must be successful. I will never quit nor take things with levity again. I will keep striving to show myself worthy.
Why do I have to quit when others are moving? I'm too beautiful to be a beggar, I must be a chooser and also be part of the decision makers to rule my world.
Now, when Mom sees me, she keep saying My girl you are doing well, cause she now see how zealous I've become. All thanks to her for the life changing proverb that had been my watch word.

This proverb is touching but your story is more touching because I had goosebumps just reading through.
We easily feel we are not loved when we are been yelled at or corrected but if we could look beyond that, we will realize the love behind every correction.
