Hey! January 1ST

Hello wonderful Ladies in this community, hope you all have been well? The questions for this week is very much interwoven, majority of times people are always outside their homes on 31st December to welcome the first day of the new year. Some will be at the streets for carnival, temples, churches, mountains or parties to usher in the new year with prayers, dancings and likewise fireworks.

My family yearly routine when we were kid was to travel to the village to spend the Christmas with our grandparents and extended family. We usually divide ourselves into two groups, one group will go to my maternal side while the other group will go to my paternal side, by December 28th we all will travel back to our house and prepare for the new year. But the routine changes when we lost both grandparents, may their souls rest in Peace (Amen)

As it has been, I spend every 1st January with my family. The previous night which is 31st December will be spent in Church for the cross over night to appreciate our maker for the gift of life and also to pray concerning the new year.

Getting home around past 1am or to 2am on 1st January, we all go straight to bed. Waking up on the new day, we start the day with Christian music, my younger brother is the family Dj who plays praise and worship songs for like two good hours. We do start the year with family praise unto God for seeing us through the previous year and thanking Him in advance for a pleasant new year.

After that, straight to the kitchen. The food, stew and soup during festive season do taste differently. For this new year, I have planned to prepare goat meat pepper soup, jollof rice with lots of vegetables, snacks and fruit salads.

I don't plan to go out at all, I only want to enjoy myself with my family. Later in the evening we will play games within ourselves and watch movies. I do have fun on the first day of the year at home, no stress whatsoever. The following day I will try and write down my plans for the year and strategies for achieving it.

Above all, January 1st is for family merriment and fun, nothing serious at all.

This is my entry to #113thLadiesofhive weekly prompt.

Thanks for reading and Happy new year in advance!
