A HIVESTYLER'S CORSET DIY PROCESS, CHALLENGES WITH SEWING A CORSET.

Hello Hive.

This came to me like such a huge task and challenge, am sure you have seen some beautiful, embellished corset around these days.

Do you know that bust caging like this is used in most of the wedding dresses you see around have their basis on corset.

A corset is designed and then embellished with lace appliques and fabrics of choice, that is what makes a wedding dress.

So to get a ball dress with perfect fitting at the bust areas you first make these foundations am learning.

Probably before I completed fashion training I will end up sewing a wedding dress after learning these each pieces and fundamental knowledge of the design first before moving to use a beautiful fabric to achieve that.

The challenges am facing with this is quite enormous, if not for passion I could have quite sewing this corset and maybe relax at making only simple clothes.

Had to struggle with the sewing even after the patterns drafted was okay.

I started making this quite early into last week so I can at least finish up today as my needlework Monday project but guess what, I wasn't aware of what I signed myself into.

I learnt the free hand pattern, cut the fabrics and then comes the addition of interfacing and serious series of ironing in between.

This is like a mountainous task and combining it with house chores makes it even more stressful, and another fact is that I had to combine all the stress with searching for alternative for power supply. Power supply has been my major drawbacks to sewing as I can't use the electrical machine and get stuck with the slow working manual.

The half length and where I have to attach cup bra with gum.
With this you may not need a brassiere when wearing your dress.

Have to iron with charcoal and others like that.

Nevertheless this is where I am.
And the work so far... Am thinking of completing this today while the children are away in school and I have some lone time.

The much easier A Line dress length.

Thank you for reading through.

I hope that Monday meets us well today and you are all basking in good health and sound mind. 🌹🌺🌻💐🌼❤💖

Sewing without electricity is an ordeal. I so hope you will find a alternative source or that the power will get more reliable. Especially when tackling such an advanced design you really need to iron and it would be much faster to sew with a machine.
But nevertheless, you are nearly done!!! So cool. This is a wonderful dress and it really looks like for a ball or a very special occasion.
You are getting so good in sewing!!! I love how the bra cups and the corset fits you. - really amazing.
Not sure if you sometimes watch YouTube for sewing inspiration (or Instagram?) I stumbled about a seamstress who makes historical dresses (many corset-like) by sewing from hand (to be authentically historic). Perhaps you already know her as she is quite famous:

Great...
Thanks for the link.
I haven't checked videos before but I think I need to, it will help me get this better.

Thank you for been such a blessing.

For the power supply, am working towards saving to get a machine that uses solar power supply since we have abundance of sunshine...

A small solar panel with a small capacity machine will do the trick and I just hope this will actualize soon.

Good work sis, this is a huge project but so far it's looking beautiful already, waiting patiently to see the finished dress, I believe with the final touch on it, it will absolutely look gorgeous.
