A Rush to harvest guinea corn in order to save it from hunters and herdsman,

Guess who paused on homestead work to enjoy the holiday, that is nobody but me and my family. We harvested rice right into the middle of December and after the rice work I also needed some time to sew festive clothes for friends and family there was no time to visit the farm again.

Our guinea corns were still not harvested before today, most farmers leave their until January in time past but these days we can no longer do that. We are always in a hurry to harvest whatever food substance that gets matured in the farm.
It is either herdmens carry their cows right into our farms to eat the harvest destroying our hard labour of which we cannot talk because they often come armed and prepared for violence against whosoever that stands in their way. Another challenge is that hunter who hunt for games, setting bush fire may accidentally run it through the farm and burn down the harvest.
It is always a race to harvest whatever is ripe in our farms.

The guinea corn grew so tall and high up in the sky.

They are now dried and ready for harvest.
This is one thing that cuts short our holiday since we have to go to farm and get this plucked out tomorrow or next

Preparation are been made on how to harvest the last of our cereals.

Another crop I've never heard of. Guinea corn. Cool.

Sorry you have to work so hard to protect your crop from theft though.

Guinea corn and millet might just be something you know, maybe they have another name over there you know ...

Millet is known but only as bird food not people food. Guinea corn...I saw the picture and it looks a bit like capers but pretty sure it's not available here

Millet is one of the most rich cereals that we know here. We modify it into different form of food ingredients. It's too important to be fed to the birds alone 😃...
I grew up taking millet drink and cow/cattle milk direct from it's udder

Never said it wasn't valuable, I said we only use it as bird feed :)

Lots of things that are marketed here are done because its what people know. Seeds are for birds. Meat and potatoes are for people. Rice is for asians. Beans are for vegetarians (and for Chilli with beef).

It's not right and I think Canadians would be a lot healthier if we ate a more varied diet (or even learned to cook) but its what is common :)

And Guinea Corn is known as Sorghum here (I looked it up) which is also used in animal feed but not for humans to eat.

I totally understood you.
I'm only emphasizing how much we value it so much...we feed first then our animals feed on the left over. 😃
It's funny that different people ate different things over there.
Majority eat thesame here, although we have a variety of foods as well.
