A traditional wear project, DiY cutting and sewing project
Hello Hive

A pleasant afternoon to us all. I hope that we are doing well and enjoying the weather. Today I'm excited to share with the community the completion of a traditional wear project my apprentice made for herself.
She is feeling a bit shy to show her face in the camera that why was I have the mannequin model it for learnt.

Learning how to sew clothes with me I have made it a point of duty to teach people how to sew with all diligence, guide them through the practical exercise and ensure that they carry out a project every new week. This is her third week of training and she has mastered how fo sew our traditional iro and buba already.
Today I had out her through the process of sewing a pencil skirt and how she can get a neat finishing for her outfits.

She started with pattern making on a paper as a beginner, she cannot cut any fabrics directly yet. After drawing the patterns which I corrected her of every possible error there might be in it.

She went further to cut the clothes placing the paper on the fabric. Cutting is done under my watch.
Having done that, we cut the linings and then head to stitch the cloth

Having done that I permitted her to do the stitching by herself. While doing so she will have the experience of sewing neat stitches and measurements on how to sew fitted clothes.

For the making of the traditional buba which she made some modification on I have to assist her with fixing of zipper and some necessary sewing and turning of neckline

That too was cut, sewn and completed today. This project is meant to be submitted to me last weekend for grading

The grading will depend on how fitted the clothes looks on her, what she has learnt so far and the
possibility of replicating this.

What will you grade my students as a fashion lover, what's your take on her first project in the very first 3weeks of learning fashion
Beautiful, I always wished I could sew.
The zipper is well fixed, she did a great job
Thank you so much....
What a beautiful project! I loved the shape of the top, it looks super fashionable, but at the same time with the pencil skirt it looks quite modern and sober.
