An Easy and Creative way to sew a fitted off-shoulfer smoked Blouse

Today I am so proud of me sewing this lovely outfits for myself, hahaha It gives me so much joy whenever I make an outfits that fits me so well and I get lots of compliments. I am yet to model this yet I am super excited about it.

The fabric and design of what I chose to make with the outfits all makes me satisfied. Recently I have been looking around for how to sew a fitted off-shoulder outfits which is sometimes tricky because of how to take the measurement.

To be able to do this I have to practice with one particular fabrics which I have posted about how to take a better accurate measurement when sewing an off shoulder outfit.

The measurement practical I did was worth it as I got better at making a fitted off-shoulder. In fact a new customer had to bring her fabrics yesterday that I made a dress for her seeing how well my off-shoulder dress looked fitted on my own body.

Another thing I had hoped to learn is how to make smokey outfits.
There is an expensive modern machine that does this task in developed country but here we simply improvise.

This is what a smoky outfit looks like. We pull this together using an elastic thread. The measurement for making smoked outfits like this must equally be learnt so that you don't end up gathering a clothes and it becomes too tight for the owner
So I have combined these two knowledge together hoping to get a breakthrough on both.

• Cutting a perfect off shoulder
• Smoking a perfectly sized fitted off shoulder

To make a perfect smoked top you need to multiply your bodice measurements by 2 to counter the elastic effects of pulls the cloth together. If your measurements is greater than that you will make a top too big and if it is less than that, your top becomes too small.

Example is this
My measurements were

Bust 34 width ... And I used 68" instead

Waist 28 and I used 56"

After pulling the elastic together the top is pulled back to bust 34 and waist 28 with the lovely folded effect.

Another important thing you must never forget to do is to mark out where you will be stitching
Failure to do this means you will not have a uniform gathering of elastic. Sewing different width will not give you this effect I have below

Following this I was able to practicalize how cut and sew a perfect off shoulder smoked dress

Next were the sleeves I have cut rectangle ones and used elastic threads to pull it together at the top and base.
The sleeve were smoked because I didn't want them fitted. I want a bogus sleeve on a fitted blouse

Having smoked a skirt earlier everything looked perfect together.
