Bringing out the best in a Dull and Unattractive Fabric

Hello Hive

Happy new Monday to my needlework family.
Mondays usually comes with so much enthusiasm for me since I get to talk with as many friends here and of course there are beautiful stories to hear and things to see.

So I have continued work on my exhibition outfit and I must confess that the deadline for the completion of the outfits was tomorrow.

Truth be told I have limited energy and capacity to work with because of my health issues and the disorder I manage, over working myself means that I have to prepare for hospitalization which isn't a good options, no body wants to get sick.

I have been working at my own pace even though my boss is not happy with that, she has been my motivation and has pushed me to work beyond my limit so I can achieve greatness but at a point I needed a break and so today I decided to check in the hospital for checkup on my blood level and PCV.

God bless @taimah for me, she has been busy with her fashion business and does not even have the time to come showcase her work for us on hive.

The progress so far on my work can be seen here while I saved us too much post about the diy process in the community.
here is the link and small clip from my padded bust and hips to add more beauty to the outfits physique.

Since I didn't do much of a work I just want to show us this little piece on how to improve work on a full fabric and bring out the best in it

I have sewn this for my besty, and she is yet to give me a photoshoot of the outfit on herself that has delayed me regarding sharing the outfits in her.
You will appreciate the beauty of the dress when someone puts it on.

Sometimes we come in contact with very ugly fabrics and I often wonder what the textile industries were thinking when they printed that.

But been a seamstress it will be highly encouraging for everyone to look into their creativity and bring out the best in every fabrics.

I in particular hate brown color fabrics but since I am faced with one, I really have to work on it.

These are some of the ideas I have about improving on such fabrics.

When you meet with a dull fabrics

  • Try to mix it with other colorful fabrics and print hidden in the fabrics.
Like this one, we have the teal green color embedded in the brown design and all the materials and accessories I bought were in such color, it lightens its appearance.

I bought lace fabrics

Beads for embellishments
All in the bright color on the fabrics.

Tulle fabrics

  • Look for a worthy style that can bring out the best in the fabrics.
A simple straight gown wouldn't give much beauty to this fabric and you can see what I have done with it.

Creativity is as important as ones sewing skills if you want to make beautiful and attractive outfits.

We definitely don’t want you sick and ending up on the hospital. Continue to take it easy and working at a healthy pace.

bring out the best in every fabric

I love this and think it’s a great idea to not waste fabrics and get the most out of them that you can. I love what you added to this dress as it made it look more attractive and beautiful ~

Hey @monica-ene, take it easy, I hope you are okay.

I often wonder what the textile industries were thinking when they printed that.

😁 - so true!

This is like a teaser, all the build-up and then a cliff-hanger, we have to watch next week to see the finished dress! I love the way you are working with colour and the little sculptures you are making to change the shape of the dress.

Okay... Everyone is excited about the outcome of the dress..
This makes me happy.

you are absolutely right, my dear! Creativity is very important in sewing. I had a friend who could sew amazing clothes from the most unattractive fabric, combining it with other fabrics, lace, beads. I still wear some of her clothes that she made or decorated for me. you did a great job with this! beautiful work! I wish you a speedy recovery!
