This is how far we have come with our rice in this growing season.
You can see how green and healthy the field looks which means that we have giving it all the necessary care it needs and at the proper time.

The rains have been very favorable and while some are experiencing drought we have had excess of heavy downpour. Today is just another of that day we have come to work but it has been drizzling and will be totally unhealthy to work in the swamp while getting wet from the rains.

We are working on hand weeding a portion of the rice field.
There are times we apply chemicals in the rice field to clear weeds but other times we prefer to do a hand weeding.
At early stage of growth one can apply chemicals talking about the months of May-July, any negative growth or adverse effect from chemical applications then can be reversed by the growing plants.

Coming into the month of August our rice is getting closer to its husk production stage and adding any chemicals now will badly affect production.
You won't be having a green field like this. At this stage we prefer to do hand weeding which will not affect the rice in anyway.

A little bit of care is needed such that you have to separate the grasses from the rice before pulling them up. Some of these grasses looks exactly like our rice plant and you have to look closely before you mistake one for the other.
