It is Harvest Already, Corn Harvest π½ π½ π½ π½ π½ π½
Hello Hive

Is it harvest already?
Are my corns ready for consumption?
Definitely not but I am begining to enjoy some corn meals already.
We live in a neighborhood where no one eats alone. Most farmers here are kind hearted, loving and peaceful. Once your crops are ready for harvest, you share with another whose crops aren't ready yet. My very own corns aren't ready for harvest yet they are still at their fertilization stage but here I am with some corn harvest from the farm yesterday

Our farm neighbors have started their own harvest already and here we are partaking of their harvest. I was giving some corn from their farm which I brought home, pilled them up and had it boiled over charcoals. Its been almost a year we ate some fresh corn π½π½π½π½

There are several ways to prepare fresh corn like this and most times I am indecisive about which method to use. You can chose to boil, roast or even cook corn along side some beans. For this first harvest we boiled and everyone in the house had something to snack on .

Our corn here have just started producing the cobs while fertilization is still on, hopefully in a months time we would have some fresh corn here as well. There is nothing much left to be done for this corn since wedding has been concluded on it, the corn has grown to a reasonable height maintaining a healthy dark green color. The weather and fertile soil has been very favourable and I'm glad that we were able to grow some organic corn this year without the need to apply fertilizers.

Last year I have spent about a hundred thousand for the purchase of fertilizer alone. We had planted some upland corn on a field I learnt that it was left to fallow for 3years, that period wasn't enough for the soil nutrient to be fixed. We didn't harvest as much corn as expected.
After all the losses I incured with the commercial farming last year, we gave it a break, in order to seek for more knowledge and to re-strategize. We need some better farm land locations that are safe and rich in nutrient. For this year we only grow what we will eat
See better yellow corn nahπ₯°

The corn field is very beautiful, although this corn is not edible, but there are some fields whose corn can be eaten. I am also a farmer and we also do the same thing, we eat together. At this time, our corn crop has been harvested, which has been a month. Now the new corn crop will be planted again in about two months and again we will boil the corn husks and eat them.
There's something special and fulfilling about growing what you eat and enjoying the natural freshly grown foods. I love the sense of communal living among farmers around you - that's a good one.
