Learn how to cut and sew a beautiful flair dress.
Hello Hive

Happy new day to us all. I hope that we all had a peaceful night rest.
It's yet another day to arise and shine. And I want to share with the community this beautiful flair dress I was able to cut and sew yesterday

I was lucky enough to get back home early enough from the farm yesterday and just before it became dark I decided to sew this beautiful flair dress. Usually whenever it's time to wear a native wear in church I always get caught unprepared. Every end of the month is thanksgiving service in church and to this effect we must all appear in traditional wear. We love to celebrate in our traditional wear. Due to the load of my work I may not remember to make me a dress ready as at when the time will come hence I decided to start a gradual process of preparing for this outfit.

I have this fabric that had remained from an outfit I have made for my sister earlier, after much delibration on which design to make of it I decided to sew me a flair dress again since this is something that often fits me so well and which I find it comfortable to wear. Compared to wearing tight fitted corsets and bustier this is the simplest comfy design of traditional wear you can get out here.
I started with cutting all the various pieces out from the flair part to the flair and the corresponding linings

When I started stitching it, I noticed that the linings and the flair weren't properly cut and was giving me some hard time staying fitted, I had to losing the stitches and recut here

Then I stictched the front block first using a size 6 measurements

Much ironing is needed to flatten these seam lines

Next was the stitching of the back block

Having done that, it is often commendable to check the fitting of your outfit while sewing midway. This will enable you to correct any cutting and sewing errors before the dress is finally completed.
Check the shoulder, busy and waist and ensure that they are fitted

The final step was joining the lower flair part to this upper part, which I did and here is the result of what we have

I made an assymmettric neckline for the dress but the one challenge I am having now is deciding a sleeve design that will match this outfit.
Suggestions are welcome please. Sometimes I get too many sleeve idea in my head but deciding on which one will match the design of a dress is usually a challenge.
Same here dear I normally love dress that fits me and makes me look comfortable not all this tighty once, the assymmettric neck look beautiful, sometimes choosing a style is a nice idea but the sleeves style always be the challenge, i faced the same challenge too but at this point my suggestion is to make a puff sleeves and open the middle point give out roop at the down hem and it make the dress look buzy, well-done dear @monica-ene.
Thank you so much dear..I will definitely come up with an idea if the sleeve and thank you for your suggestions.
Congratulations! This dress you made is truly beautiful, I loved it. If it were for me, I would make it with short, puffed sleeves. Well, I hope you decide on a nice sleeve style in the end. Best wishes! ☺️
Thanks for the idea.
I will definitely go with this

What a beautiful dress! It's clear you put a lot of work into it. I love the cut of the skirt; I adore this type of dress for formal occasions. Regarding the sleeves, I think orange sleeves would look great and create a better match, although I think it looks lovely without them as well. I appreciate your work, and thank you for sharing it with us @monica-ene.
