My first time sewing a shirt with a front Zipper, DIY tutorial process.

Hello Hive

A happy new day to us all. Its finally weekend and I'm sure that somebody behind his desk office is happy that it's Friday. I do hope that we will have the best of the day and the weekend in advance.

I remembered sharing with us this weekend about how to sew a comfortable Summer strapless dress earlier this week. This is really important for our health in this hot weather. We are adviced to wear comfortable clothes, drink a lot of water and stay indoor or under shades for the hotter times of the day.

So I decided to design this colorful shirt dress you may be inspired to wear on any inner dress in this season. The shirt was cut and sewn with a front Zipper making easy for anyone to fly the shirt at any time.

I had wanted to use a decorative zipper but didn't have any in the house. At any point in time and for whatever outings you will find a shirt like this comfortable to wear. It can be taking off and worn at any time if you decide to receive more fresh air wearing the inner dress alone.

To make the shirt I cut out the front and back block here using a standard body measurements of size 6

I slashed open the front block where I will be adding the zipper.

Next I cut out the sleeves here

To stitch the shirt I started with the front Zipper fixing here.
I was a lot careful so as not to over stretch the necklines

I was able to successfully fix the front Zipper and here is what it looked like below

Next I picked the front and back bodice joined the shoulders together first before proceeding to attach the sleeves.

The next steps where the hemmings for the shirt and sleeves after which I began to join the side seams

The shirt needs some ironing but we are not having power supply currently. A soft pressing and the shirt will be ready for use.

For the necklines anyone can decide if they want to sew a collar and attached to it, turn it in with a facing or bias strip. Any comfortable and attractive method is fine. There is one beautiful piece of ready to wear collar being sold at the market and that is
particularly what I wish to go for.

What do you think of the shirt?
