My first time sewing a pleated Tulle net skirt, DIY process
Hello Hive

A beautiful Afternoon to the hive community. Today i want to show us how I decided to sew a pleated Tulle skirt for myself. For a while now I have seen how our mothers matched this type of tulle skirt with a jacket to church and I have admired the design. Hoping that one day I will see thesame for myself I decided to try out the design after church service yesterday.
I had this thick tulle net that wasn't too transparent so I decided to use it for this purpose.
I started by cutting the length of the tulle net.

Next I sourced for satin pieces from my bag to use for this, not desiring to purchase any fabrics when there are left over that can be utilized

After getting the pieces I joined the seamlines of the satin fabric first

Next I took the satin and the tulle net and stitched them up together with the right side of the satin on the wrong side of the cloth.

Next I got a waist band which I measured to my desired length of 28" adding 2" extra for the zipper allowances

Having notched the waist band I quality notched the tulle net correspondingly such that I can have a uniform pleating of the tulle net on the waist band.

Next I created a very nice pleats of the tulle on the satun fabric which was then used to turn the edges of the skirt with a very nice topstitching. After that I search for a zipper in the house and couldn't get one to fix on the skirt.

For now the skirt is nicely sewn but it feels a bit bulky to me and doesn't look fitted, maybe because I haven't been able to iron it or the ones been worn by the people I have meet doesn't have an underlining.

I am not getting that satisfactory feeling I had when I saw my friends wearing a similar skirt but I wouldn't know yet until I have been able to iron this and wear it on myself. Pleated skirts are generally beautiful and I hope that I will love the outcome of this very one.
