Park for sellers and dealers of car and why I can't buy a car.

Hello Hive

Buying of cars is a very fascinating thing in Nigeria and it is believe that only the rich are entitles to use cars and mostly we have those who are extremely wealthy buying expensive and fancy cars.

Aside this category every other persons uses a public transport.

There is a formal celebration people put up here whenever you cross the bridge and are a able to buy your first car.

Some carry out a washing party pouring wine and drinks on the car while others will like to call a pastor to sanctify the car.

Which ever way this is done, there is a this joy and fulfilment that people feel when they are now mobile.

Cars on sale around here aren't usually bought or sold new. Most of them are London used cars usually sold within the range of 1-10million Brand new cars or tear leather as they are locally called can only be found among the first class of our society, the famous musicians governors and influential citizens.

This is how a car park and the arrangements for sale of cars look like .
There is usually no specific place or market for cars and each time u take walk round a place and find this kind of arrangements or plastic bottles placed above a car, its a sign the car is for sale.

Why I can't own a car

Aside from the fact that I cant afford a car yet there is this but one reason that makes me don't wanna own a car.

I don't know what the fear of driving is called, but this has been concluded in me, and am just convinced that the day I drive something bad will happen. I can't hold the wheels for fear that made me refuse to learn.

Even in our compound am afraid I might hit the gate or press the wrong button in a car, a major reason I won't sit in the passenger seat of car, knowing in me that someday my imaginations will drive me too far into moving a car the wrong way.

I may never learn how to drive or overcome this fear but if I eventually own a car, a driver has to follow me around.

Now to conclude this, I would like to know if you like to change cars every year or two or you just stick with a car you love for longer period.

Every car has its own advantage and so forth what is the reason behind you buying that model of car you are using.

And finally, would you prefer a driver take you around or enjoy the comfort of driving yourself

This is fascinating. I am trying to picture a plastic bottle being used to show a car for sale. I am in Southern California, and car dealerships are everywhere. Do you ever get to practice driving to help alleviate your fear?
We have an 8 passenger van because we have 6 kids. I would like a pickup truck one day because I like them from when I was growing up. We usually keep our cars for at least 5 years. The time to buy a new car to me is when the repairs start costing more than what the car is worth.

Am too fearful to practice. A van is just perfect for your family size. And a pickup truck would be good for camping exercise as well.
I wish I can get a picture of that.
Keeping a car for 5years is really good.

I have seen someone use a car for close to 10 years and in good shape at that. Maybe its the maintenance for a car that makes it stay and last long and drivable I guess.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are enjoying your day.
Warm greetings from Nigeria.

Practice makes perfect dear, most expert drivers were also novice. The fear of failing and uneasiness will always be there as a learner. Facing your fear by learning from those with great experiences would make things easy for you. I wish you the very best dear.

I also have a fear of driving and I used to always say that if I get a car, I would need a driver but right now, I have changed my mind because I need the convenience of a car.

I have in my goal for next year to go for driving classes.

Oh, am not alone in this. And sometimes you feel secure when you drive yourself.
Well just maybe we would be our own drivers and ride some fancy cars 😂

Honestly (and please don't be offended), if you are scared to drive a car, then do not do it.
Also, I have seen videos from Lagos and even though I am an experienced, confident driver, I would not drive there. It looks very dangerous.

I am using public transport for now, because my drivers license is suspended.
I love driving though and I own an old classic car. I do not like new cars.

Honestly I can't be offended.
I refused to learn even when I had the opportunity, I love to feel safe.
Beside I have this motion sickness and often vomit with every journey and at the smell of fuel.

Very dangerous to drive in Nigeria. I don't know how many people are sane or drive with in their right frame of mind.

I wished I have checked out the statistic for accidents and accident victims all around Nigeria and that alone will make me not wish to drive..

I am working hard to overcome my fears, I used to drive my dad's car but ever since the time I hit a rock, the fear has been in me that I couldn't hold the wheel again. As much as I love seeing women driving and hope someday I would gain back my confidence to drive agian, I would prefer a driver driving me around for the time been.

You see just what I mean.
Maybe we need a stronger heart to hold the wheel.

The fear is an inevitable thing for someone just learning how to drive. You know the first time I was taught, I got pissed and annoyed and told everyone I’m not learning again. I later overcome the fear and practice more and now its fun. If you don’t try, you won’t know. Give it a trial my dear naughty friend.

Well used cars doesn't really mean they are in bad shapes, some of these cars where barely used for up to a year by their first buyers before dumping them in the market to get new or higher model, some car lovers change their cars every year, hence their former used cars are still in perfect shape at resell junction.

yes, having a car is a different level of life. we also do not have a car. in Israel it is not at all a problem to buy a car, but to maintain it afterwards: to service, pay various taxes on transport and mandatory payments, undergo a technical inspection is expensive here. besides, traffic jams are the main problem of our country, so even if a person has a car, sometimes he chooses a train ride since there are no traffic jams on the train yet)))) my husband believes that if someday there is a situation that we will need car, he'd better order a taxi

You are absolutely right, these are too many drawbacks for owning a car, I will rather go for train like yourself.
I have never been in a train yet though 😊
