Quality seed purchase Clearing, Planting and Preparations for Gardening

Hello Hive

Gardening Session are a cycle that we can repeat over and over again.
By so doing we plant new species of vegetables or even the old ones learning new method of growing them and how best to produce quality vegetables for personal use it even for sale.Last year at about the end of the rains I have grown a garden that was helpful harvesting vegetables, jute mallow, bitter leaf, scent leaves and others.
At the end of the rains there was not enough water supply to keep the garden green and hence everything dried up.

The rains have just started here about last week on the 5th of April much late compared to the timings we usually had rains in the past.

One major challenge that comes with gardening in my compound here is flood. The house is often flooded when the rains gets to its peak.
That makes two terrible situations I have to deal with each time I decide to plant a garden here.

  • The first is shortage of water during the dry season

  • Flood during the raining seasons.

In order to grow a garden I must work within these two periods.
Have one planted and Harvested before the floods come or have the second session grown later when the rains are no longer heavy and before the dry seasons come.

Soon as the rains begun I have purchased these seeds from an Agric firm here because of the ugly experience I had the last time with poor seeds which didn't germinate

There is a problem with seed preparation and preservation.
If they aren't properly preserved there is zero chances of the seeds germinating which will result in a waste of time and effort.

I got some Fluted pumpkin seed
Making sure that they were partly germinated already so that I can pick up their growth from here rather than purchasing ones that I won't be sure of them sprouting after planting. My late mother was good at keeping and preservation seeds and if I am fortunate to grow this till seed production stage I will know what to do to keep them preserved for next planting season.

For the Spinach and Jute mallow, I can't be sure of the quality of seeds but only hopeful that they will germinate since they were preserved in an Agric firm
