Quite a challenge creating my own design of a much needed jacket.

Hello Hive.

Today I realized that of all the outfits I have and have been sewing, I just needed a jacket and A stylish one at that.

Sometimes I make outfit that are sleeveless and desire to leave them like that meaning that i love the design more without the sleeve and have deliberately not sewn a sleeve to such outfits, but in some cases I usually miss my calculations for fabric and bought fabrics much lesser that what I will need to make a complete outfit. Hence after all the cuttings there will be no fabrics left to sew a sleeve to whatever outfit I was making.
Going back to buy a little more fabrics will not be reasonable as the sellers don't sell small amount of the fabrics unless I purchase a yard or trouser length.

After making a sleeveless top from any of the reasons above, the time will come when I will have to wear this to some functions where having to wear a sleeveless top will look informal.
To this effect I decided to create my own design of a jacket that will serve as an after dress for any kind of sleeveless top.

While making this I had to keep in mind the type of fabrics I will be using since I will not want a jacket that will be too tick and take away the attention from the dress I wear underneath.
For this a transparent net jacket with a sleeve will be just perfect.

I got to work to see how I can make this as perfect to meet the description and purpose for which I need this jacket.

Drawing a pattern to show what I want and how it will look like was my first priority.
I drew a simple basic bodice and cut out the styling like this

And then I had a short sleeve cut out to match with the jacket

Besides having it in black or white color will make it multi purpose and matching with any outfits.
Here I have the jacket on my pink top and striped dress.

This is not a perfect jacket or after top but with every design I learn something new and this will be very useful and serve the purpose for which I need it for.

Seriously, tailor and fashion designers are always enjoying themselves rocking new clothes and styles. The jacket looks simple and I love it. At least they say practice makes perfect 🥰
