Step by Step Sewing process of a wedding Outfit for My sweet Friend, First Fitting

Hello Hive

Just take at how this sits down so lovely and pretty on my human model.
From the idea of what can I sew with the sequence velvet to the first fitting here it has been a beautiful experience.

My friend started feeling the brides vibes and I can feel the butterfly in her stomach when she kept blushing and telling me how much she loves the design of what I later chose to make of her dress..

If you know my people you will understand that any lady/woman who goes through the marital rite properly and is married off traditional without having a child outside wedlock or before her big day is a blessed woman.

There is so much stigmatization in our society about women who do not properly married or whose bride price has not been paid.
Women/men have to go through this cultural rite diligent to be accord some respect in the society. Having children outside wedlock is frowned at as there are blessing being attached to being married.

To this effect people try as much as possible to not just locate each other but follow all traditional rites and instructions before they receive the blessing of marriage to live together.
While this is going on, we equally understand how difficult it is to find a spouse/life partner in our current society, a good percentage of people find it a herculean task to locate who they can settle down with.

Whenever two people eventually find themselves and the whole process is heading towards marriage the excitement is often fenzy. Everyone is happy for the couple to be including myself the seamstress putting together the wear to be worn by the bride.

After purchasing the materials my friend had tasked me with sewing her wedding outfit, this is yet the traditional marriage, the white and court wedding will come up later after this.

At first I wanted to reject this project because this is too much if an important celebration outfit for me to take on, sew and then make any mistakes, that can't be tolerated but since she was a little out of budget, sewing this for free will save her some bucks.

I took up the challenge, cut and sew the lower bodice first, above I had cut the fabric to her measurements and attached some linings to it.

Front block upper bodice.

I suggested to her that it will not be nice to sew only the sequence velvet without mixing it with a plain fabric, I purchased a trouser length silk fabric and used it for the upper bodice above.

For this upper bodice you will definitely need a drafted pattern in papper which i did use to cut this fabric but completely forgot to snap them before they got squeezed.

I equally worked on the back piece of the lower bodice. Most of these activities were done at night as my days are often spent in the farm.

Little by little I continued joining each piece until the upper and lower bodice came together and we tried the first fitting

From the first fitting I noted all the necessary adjustment that needs to be made before proceeding for embellishments. You cant sew a traditional wear like this without some embellishments to add more glits to the appearance.

The outfit is so pretty and I love the outcome so far....

The dress turned out absolutely beautiful! That back keyhole detail and the way the fabric drapes on the side look gorgeous. You did an amazing job balancing the textures, and your friend looks so happy wearing it. Fantastic work! 💚
