Tutorial process : My little Angels Finally gets her long awaited Cultural Attire.
Hello Hive

Happy new week and welcome to my blog. It's a new week and am glad to witness the start of the week in good health. I hope that you all feel the same way too.

Today I want to take you through the process of how I was able to eventually sew this cultural attire for my baby sister. She is my little angel who has been in charge of my care ever since she was 3years old at our mum's demise. I got used to calling her a baby and even while she is already approaching teenage years I still find it difficult to remove the baby term from her name ever since I got used to it.

Recently she her voiced out to me that I should stop sewing children ball dresses for her that she is now an adult. I was so surprised and laughed out hard. My baby sis can no longer wear ball gowns, she desires adult styling of dress. And here I finally made one for her.

This dress was meant to be a cultural dress for her to wear for Christmas but I was so busy with exams and my customers wears during the time (money had to be made) hence understanding family members had to wait until such periods is over before I begin to make their own wears for them. For every Christmas celebration we love to wear clothes made from cultural fabrics and cultural designs.

I started with cutting and sewing the lower part, then I used her measurements to cut the upper part of the dress here, they all consist of 3 piece each, the lace and the linings

Next I was able to join all these pieces to form the upper block of the dress here

Next I cut out a very long satin fabrics, sewed and turned it over to form a ruffle here

Pieces for the ruffle

Then I tried out the fitting for the upper bodice here on the mannequin

Before proceeding to attach the ruffle go the upper bodice and checking out the fitting one more time.

It is a good habit to always check the fitting of an outfit on a body form especially off shoulder designs like this so that they won't end up falling off the shoulder when the owner eventually wear the.
After joining the lower block of the dress go the upper bodice, this is what we have now.

This is the outcome of the dress.

My little but not too little baby sis finally gets an adult design cultural wear made of lace cultural fabrics.
