New places for bird photography.

Well taking pictures of birds is becoming more and more fun, plus it keeps me busy thinking of new places to visit to look for birds and keep learning about them while taking pictures, there are a few YouTube channels I have been watching for some inspiration but for now let me share with you seven pictures from today.

This is the Dendrocygna autumnalis which in Mexico we know it as pichichin duck, it is one of the most abundant ducks in the park I go to, at times it can be boring to take pictures of these ducks but it is also challenging because at the slightest movement they open their wings and fly out of reach, luckily for me it was already late when I took the pictures and they were actually looking for the place where they would spend the night.

In the morning I was taking some pictures of the birds that approached my garden, and one of these birds was the tonguita or torcasa, the truth is that I don't know its name in English or its scientific name, I only know that there are some people who hunt them to eat their meat, it doesn't have much but its appearance similar to doves makes it interesting to hunt, besides being a challenge for the hunter because of its small size, at least here in Mexico there are many of these birds so I don't think they are in danger of extinction.

Now let's look at the Barn Swallow, in this particular case I am very grateful to see this bird because in the past the old people, those that almost no longer exist in the world, the old people who saw signs in the sky, the clouds and especially in the migration of birds said that if you saw these little animals the rains were near, and I really believe it because I have seen it before, so I really appreciate the opportunity to see these birds and know what it means, or at least I want to think so because I need to have hope that soon it will rain because the heat is killing me.

Let's go back to the park, because as I mentioned in a previous post I have been checking some nests in the trees hoping to find squirrels and woodpeckers, and then I show you two pictures I took and that I really liked, according to my research it is the Gila woodpecker, although when I read the information about the bird I realized that it is described as a bird of desert areas and although where I live it does not fall into that classification (still, it is likely that soon we will be a desert area) there are many species of woodpeckers, I just need to spend more time in the park looking up the trees, I know I'm going to end up with a neck ache but the experience is worth it.
