This was a good walk, part 2

Here comes the second part of a walk I did a few days ago, and it took me a while to do the post because I was looking for information but I was also saving this image for the next contest, so this will be my entry to the Feathered Friends - Show Me A Photo Contest Round 143

This is the main photograph of this post and according to what I have searched for information it is a bird called Sayornis saya and as far as I have been able to read on the subject, it is a bird that is not common to see in the place where I live, rather towards the center of the country, but not in the Mexican Pacific, I am not an expert on the subject and you know that my fascination is mostly for photography and the challenge of being able to make these images, but regarding bird identification I still have a lot to learn, so if you know what bird it is I would appreciate if you could correct or confirm the species please.

And well, it all started last week with a walk I took through the park, I already had in mind what I wanted to do and that's why I took the necessary gear, here you can see the first part of this adventure, but moving on, I was by the lake, pond, swamp, I don't really know how to call it at the moment but with the picture you can get an idea of what the place is like, what I can say is that sadly the place is full of mosquitoes, and taking these pictures cost me a lot talking about health, since today in the morning I started to feel a little bit bad again with bone pain, so it is very likely that I got sick with dengue, that's why sometimes I avoid visiting these places but the pictures look spectacular.

Walking slowly through the park, moving under the trees I could see a silhouette moving among the branches a few meters above my head, apparently it was a streak-backed oriole, although I could not tell the correct species, especially because this was the only picture I could take because when he noticed my presence he hide between the leaves of the trees and as the mosquitoes were biting me too much I decided to keep on my way.

Here we have some pictures of the Least grebe (Tachybaptus dominicus), the truth is that I was watching it for quite a while, and the order of the pictures is exactly the order in which I took them, I started looking for the best moment to take the pictures, in the first one I liked the against the light, in the second one I liked everything, except that it was still very far away from the place where I was hiding, in the third picture I liked that it was getting closer and closer, but the light was not appropriate and the color of the pond was not well appreciated, and the fourth picture is my favorite, here I think everything is in its place, light, movement in the water, distance from the bird, I think everything was perfect.

Now something that is almost not talked about, because many people are sensitive to the subject, but here I am not to take care of anyone's feelings, but to tell the story as it happened, while I was still on my hunt, I heard a small noise, that's when I could realize that this cat was also hunting in the park, he was crouching in the grass, and when he saw that I started to point my camera to take the picture he raised his head to see what I was doing and that's when I took the picture, the truth is that it is a pity that the owners let them go outside to do what they do best, kill, and it is also a shame that they only do it for exercise and not because they are really hungry, for now this cat is immortalized in the photograph.

At this moment I was already tired of walking and searching among the trees for the little birds, those I call little bastards as I told you before, well the thing is that despite all my instincts, I decided to sit in a place and wait, wait and wait, hoping not to be eaten by mosquitoes but I waited until I found a bird that caught my attention, that's when I saw this silhouette and decided to stay there until a bird saw me and I became interesting for her, and so it was.

17_11_2023_2-8.jpg

After about 10 minutes of sitting there waiting and making small movements cleaning the camera, it was when the bird decided to come closer to see what I was doing, it perched on a branch about 3 meters away and that's when I took the image I used on the cover of this post.

It was something magical, almost as if nature had given me the prize I deserved after so much effort and sacrifice, of course I would have liked it to stay there to take more pictures but it only let me take that picture in which I could capture everything in detail, after taking the picture it flew to another branch and there I could take this last picture.

And when I was leaving the park, I could see that this bird was following me or at least that seemed to me, so although I had already taken pictures of them I decided to take another one, and now I conclude with this picture the walk of that day, I hope you liked all this adventure, if you have any tips to draw the attention of these birds I appreciate it, because I plan to return this week but with the intention of making videos to share, see you soon.

It is always a pleasure to read your stories and admire the beautiful photos you take.
If I were you, I would not stay so long at this place, because of the mosquitoes. :-)
Thank you very much for your awesome post and entry.
