No sería hasta 2003 que el internacional irlandés estaría dando el salto a aquel equipo donde conseguiría la gloria y tocaría la cima, estamos hablando del Chelsea FC que era presido bajo el proyecto ambicioso de Roman Abramovich y con quién conseguiría unos años asombrosos en el equipo de la capital inglesa.

Esos serían sus últimos títulos como profesional, ya que después en el 2006-2009 tendría un paso por el Newcastle United conocidos como las Urracas, pero la verdad es que de ese paso si no tengo mucho conocimiento. La verdad es que yo no comencé a conocer de Damien Duff cuándo estaba en su paso por el Fulham, si bien él ficharía por ese equipo en el 2009, yo tendría razón de ese jugador en el 2010 que fue cuándo ya estaba muy muy pero muy metido en el mundo del fútbol.

Paso una gran parte de su carrera en el Fulham también, aproximadamente unos 5 años que creo, si no me equivoco, era pautado lo que tenía por contrato. La verdad es que vi cómo jugaba, me gustó mucho y era bastante rápido, la verdad, un atributo que siempre me ha gustado en los delanteros, no era muy goleador, eso sí, pero estaba en el momento que sería ideal para marcar. Con el Fulham lo más destacable que tuvo fue la Europa League del 2010, una gran actuación del cuadro de la Premier League, que llegaría a la gran final con sus referencias habituales, pero que serían arrollados por un Atlético de Madrid que venía destinado a llevarse el galardón esa noche.

Pasó el tiempo, cumplió su contrato y en el año 2015 abandonaría como agente libre las filas del Fulham, fichando así por un equipo más acorde a su edad y rendimiento, digamos que fue a un equipo de retiro. En ese entonces ficharía por el Shamrock Rovers FC, equipo que juega en la liga irlandesa y dónde, después de disputar nada más que 9 jornadas, nuestro gran amigo Damien Duff decidiría colgar las botas y ponerle un cierre a una carrera futbolística aceptable.

Para sorpresa de unos y no de otros, en el año 2021 comenzaría su carrera como entrenador profesional ahí mismo en la liga de su país, Irlanda. Estaría entrando al Shelbourne FC y según varios medios, aseguran que las cosas van pintando bien para nuestro amigo, pero ya eso sería tema de otro post.
