Easter weekend

This weekend, we celebrated Easter. I know this comes confusing for some of you, as you may have celebrated it last weekend, or you heard it was last weekend. It was Catholic Easter, and this one is Orthodox. Our church uses a different calendar, so all holidays come 2 weeks later, but since Easter is not a fixed date, it doesn't have to be 2 weeks difference, but a week difference, like now.

Sunday morning we have a nice breakfast all together, and Teddy was first to come and wait for the meal :D

I will show you some of our customs for Easter. The main focus is on eggs, that we boil and color on Great Friday, which I showed you in this post. On Sunday, we compete to see whose egg will win. If you have winning egg, you can take loser egg and eat it. This is a fun activity for everyone, but specially the kids.

Another interesting custom is burying "cuvarkuca" from last year. "Cuvarkuca" (translation would be home keeper) is the first egg that you paint, and it's set aside for a year. On the next Easter morning, you should bury it somewhere in the yard. It's always my job to do it. Sometimes there are more eggs left, or some people leave more eggs, and then use them when there is a thunderstorm, as there is believing that if you throw it outside it will protect from hail.

In the afternoon, we went to the village to have lunch with my other grandparents and aunt and uncle. We were pleased to see that work around the house is done, and it looked so nice now.

Weather was not the greatest, but I went to walk with dogs, as it's a must whenever we are there.

I didn't take photos of lunch but I did took photo of dogs waiting for it. As well as the cakes.

In the evening I went out to see friends.

One very nice weekend, everyone happy, good food, family time, time in nature, just perfect. I am happy to repeat the lovely weekend in 2 weeks, as we have another holiday coming up.

This is my post for the #hiveblopomo challenge.
Thank you for reading my post ^^
