Let learn together how to sew and reupholst a sienna car seat by @mosesessien

Hello guys

Good morning and Happy weekend to everyone in this community, how are you all doing, I hope you all are doing pretty good. I am happy to create a post here with you guys although it has not been easy for me because of too much work load in my shop. I always feel so tire and weak in which most at time I just come in to read from my follow needle worker's comment.
I have here to share with you all how I sew this beautiful sienna seat which I will upload below 👇👇

*Here was the seat before

This seat was given to me by my customer and the car was for sale and to God me the Glory he was so happy with the finished work and he call me to thank me at immediately he drive out someone see the car and bought it, that he has been doing seat with other people but he fine it hard to sale it that I give him luck and to my supprise he make me his customer wow I am so happy for that and I really thank God Almighty.

The seat was 6 in numbers all the same but I will use one to explain the progress I make to achieve that beautiful seat , it took me 4 days to complete it and it was really stressful and it is rain seasons here and it rain everyday.

Let get started

Material/tools needed

  • Sewing machine
  • thread
  • needle
  • star and flat screwdriver
  • roof material
  • upholstery gum
  • sucket spanner etc

Here is the material I am using for this project

After I bought my leather from the market I now use my spanners and loose the seat separate for easy measurement and upholstery see photo below 👇👇

After loosing it I now use my measurement tape and chalk to measure out my vertical and horizontal length of each pattern to form new pattern. It is very simple to measure see photo below 👇👇

I now transfer the measurement to my new leather following the vertical length and the horizontal length because if you cut the horizontal length in vertical length of the leather you will fine it hard to cover the new leather

After that I now use my scissors to cut it out following the line I draw on it.

The next step is very important, and if you follow me well you will find this work simple to do.
In this step I will show you how to form a pattern, to form a pattern simple carry the new leather you have cut place on its position and the use chalk to trace out the line has it is on the old seat and put half inch sewing allowance, just has shown below 👇👇

I do that to every part of the seat to form you pattern and for the opposite side you can trace it out be placing it face to face

After forming my pattern I now place it and gum it to a roof material to make it smooth and think.

I finally cut it out for sewing process

Sewing process
After cutting out my pattern I now use my sewing machine to join them together one after the other to form my new seat cover.

Done sewing.
I now pick out my new seat cover and cover my old seat

And I finally tide back the seat to have the finished work.

That is all for today, I want to say thank you so much for going through I love you all. Working on another project soon,.....
All the work is my work and photos taken by me using my Tecno spark 4 phone.

Hello Mosses 😌. The important thing is that even though we have a lot of work, we don't lose the quality in each one.

Your upholstery work is beautiful, very valuable to our community. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers! ❣️
