Weekend trip to Northern California

One November weekend I visited the areas of California north of where I live - Marin and Sonoma. Sonoma is best known for its wines, but it also has beautiful hills that turn green during winter. When you add valley fog hugging the hills into the mix you get views like this. Who needs Tuscany?

The next day I went to Point Reyes. This dramatic landscape with wave battered cliffs and pristine beaches is usually shrouded by fog, but this time I was lucky to witness a truly spectacular sunset here. That's the Pacific Ocean on the left, Drakes Bay on the right, the Point Reyes peninsula extending in the front, and if you squint, an elephant seal relaxing on the beach below.
