Black Patch
A young man named Max was jobless for ten years after graduating from the university. Max had sought the dandiest job down to working as a dishwasher in a restaurant but wasn't considered. Maybe because the owners of the restaurant had thought that Max was overqualified for the job.
His neighbour, Harrison, who had been of immense help to Max, called one weekend to inform him of the opening at his office, a position of secretary to the manager of the company where he works.
Max wasted no time. He was the first to get to the company gate on Monday with his CV and copies of his credentials.
Surprisingly, an interview was set for him and he got the job. He was ready to give his best on the job and that was what he did.
He was a soft-spoken man and socialised with all other staff of the company. Most times, he stayed back in the office to do "overtime" work to get more pay.
Though he was enjoying the job. For Max, the most enjoyable thing about his new job is that he now learns new skills.
On days when there is a lot of work to do, Max could stay back till 10:00pm, the security guards are also aware of his presence in the office.
One evening, Max was busy making photocopies of some documents. He had worked and became so tired that he began to contemplate leaving for his house.
As he made the last copy of the document, Max saw a big round black patch on the white paper.
That caught him unawares because he could see the inner part of the photocopier through the big black patch on the paper.
When he noticed that the paper was fostering some basic magic he started to apply it on everything. He tried it on the locked refrigerator in the manager's office and his hands entered the refrigerator without opening the lock, he brought out a canned coke.
Now, things were getting more interesting to him. The next place he went was the electronic safe in the manager's office. He fixed the paper on the locked safe and trusted his hands through the door and brought out some good cash.
Out of excitement, Max put his head paper and entered the safe and was packing as much money as he could.
As he was packing the money, the paper fell and he got stocked in the safe.
It was the worst decision he ever made.
When the guards waited for Max to exit the office but is nowhere to be found, one of them went in search of him.
They got to the office and could not find Max except the loud bang coming from inside the vault in the manager's office.
That night, they put a call through to the manager who came to the office in his pyjamas to see what was happening.
How could he get into the vault without the keys?
They looked at the vault but it was not opened. Max was looking without knowing what to say. The patched paper was just on the ground looking at everyone, in my Max knew what was at stake.
The manager told him to ask him to leave and never come back to the company. While they asked him to take his luggage, Max picked the patched papers and left without looking back.
