A blind date. Elena never fancied it for once in her life but her friends did not want to hear a bit of it. She was twenty seven for Christ sake and needed a man in her life.

Elena Warthon had dated a lot of men both in her youth and early adulthood. To her, they were all the same; all after her father’s wealth. One of them had even ran away with a million dollars and swindled her one of her houses in Africa.

Vivy had immediately created a facebook account for her at least to make her social for once in her lifetime. Against Elena’s wish, she had sent friend requests to over a hundred men they could reach.
One by one, they had indirectly interviewed them by impersonating her. After a lot of trials, Vivy had found the perfect man for her friend.
Kelvin Aldophus was his name. He was an attorney and midnight musician in a popular underground club 909.
Elena’s eyes mopped the gallant looking man wearing a jersey. His hair was dane and curly and part of it fell across his face. The muscles on his arm threatened to burst out of his cloth. She liked his appearance and prayed he wasn’t like the others.

“A blind date . Ooh! That sounds fun.”
Vivy squealed as she searched through Elena’s clothes. She threw a powder blue dress on her.

“Something about it doesn’t feel right. A date in an underground club?”
Elena arched her eyebrow.

Her friend waved the situation off with a small laugh, assuring her that everything was going to be fine.Vivy reminded her that Kelvin Aldophus was a musician in that same club which means she was safe.

After ten minute of persuasion, Elena agreed and put on a pink blouse with faded jeans. She did her best to look as modest as she can.

The Warthon’s chauffer gave her a questioning look as she gave him the location of where she was going to. Club 909 was a place for miscreants and people with wide life. A place for prostitutes and hoodlums.
“I’m going on a date. He is an attorney” Elena replied without being asked.

As the car started off, her mind began to wonder about. what if he was a criminal who found out about my father’s wealth? or a man who rapes women and dish them off.

Elena brought out a mirror from her handbag and stared at it. She could see fear in her eyes.

“No! I can’t do this” she muttered underneath her breath.

“Driver please turn around. I mean back to the house”.

“your date?”
The chauffer looked at her through the rear view mirror.

“Forget about it. Just take me home”.

He reversed the car and diverted to the road that led back her father’s castle. She pacified herself that another man would one day come at the right time.

Elena is a sensible girl. She thought, reflected and came to a good conclusion.

She might be right or she might not, but the question here is, does she want to keep on living like that?

I liked your story, it made me remember the times I went on blind dates, of course I always went and it was always the girls I was supposed to date, going on a blind date always turns out to be risky and you have to be very careful with that kind of dating.

Beautiful story, I believe Elena would need to give someone a chance because she can't keep living life like that.

Hello @mrenglish. Your story resonates with me because I have known acquaintances who faced the same situation. Not the tons of money, but choices and hesitancy in putting themselves out there and taking a chance once something bad has happened in the past.

At some point, things will have to change. Not everyone is good; nor is everyone bad character.

Thanks for sharing your story. Take care.

Read though @dreemport
