"Dancing Melodies"

Spending months of mourning. I feel like the silence of our hometown deafened me. I hear sounds but it serves no meaning. It's like I'm trapped in an empty bottle where no sounds have differences. I decided to go to the city and because I know it's very crowded there. I'm thinking of waking myself up by the so much noise that the City has.

"Mother, what will I do now?"

I said to myself while accepting the fact that any place will be no help with my sadness. My mother was the one who taught me how to sing. I adored her singing and when I grew up it seemed I imitated her. Every time she brought me into an amateur singing contest her way of singing was the one on my mind. That's why when she died because of an illness. I feel like there's no sound I can hear. It's hard for me to follow the melodies.

"Aron, even when I'm gone, continue on singing. Give joy to the people because your voice is very soothing and uplifting."

She caught her breath.

"I know the path for you will not be easy. Of course, all of us have but don't falter. It's just a test of how determined you will be. That's why don't be afraid and--"

The last words of my mother. She couldn't continue what she's trying to say to me and closed her eyes forever. There were words I wanted to tell but I couldn't make it. She raised me alone and that's why it's hard for me to live without her.

"My life is nothing."

I said to myself while drinking alone at a random grill in the City. I'm a little bit drunk while drinking 6 bottles of beer. I leaned my face at the table and started sobbing.

"Life is so unfair."

Suddenly I felt like someone was seated next to me but I ignored it.

"If you thought life is unfair to you. How much more to me living the rest of my life alone because I'm an orphan."

I slowly lifted my head to see who that woman's voice I heard. After recognizing who that might be I turned back my head again. She is Azalea. She was my rival and became my fan. She was always desperate to hear me singing. She said that she loved the way I sing because when I started singing. She felt like she was surrounded by dancing notes. A vibrant feeling filled the room with such calmness.

"Now get up!"

She forced me to stand.

"No matter how many times the world failed. Rise up and keep on rising until the world itself will be the one to raise you because it's tired already. Shutting yourself and hiding from the deepest sorrow will just kill you."

She pulled me to be at the stage where random people can sing. I look around and a lot of people are there. They are clapping and start cheering. My sadness was being replaced with embarrassment. Even so, for an instant, I forgot how the pain quenched me.

"I'm going to do it this time," I said to myself but suddenly Azalea spoke at the stage.

"We are the ones who can fix ourselves. Pain is part of us. Challenges are part of us while doing our best to make our life become beautiful. Just like in the world of art. If you will not finish what you're working with. The beauty will not be seen and remain ugly."

"If you think you have some beautiful art to show? Go ahead and finish it. All of us are cowards but facing that cowardice makes us brave."
"Now, sing Aaron. Sing it with the best you can."

I don't understand but she motivated me with her words.

"Ahhhh, Hmmmm."

I started my singing with acapella first but I heard people saying something.

"What is this?"

"Is this for real?"

"Ah, he makes me want to float in the wind."

"I'm seeing notes and melodies. Am I dreaming?

" It really is. Wow."

It's the first time I heard people saying like that. I looked at Azalea and she just nodded and smiled.

"Go for it," she said while her fist was raising up."

I feel so happy and I feel like I'm being free. I sing hard….

I catch my breath while people are shouting and clapping.

"That was a good sing, dude."

I stood up and left the stage.

"Thank you Azalea. It made me feel better. Facing it was the best way of fighting it."

She just smiled at me.

"Well, I wanted to feel those feelings again so it's a waste if you will not keep on singing." She said.

I left the place with a brighter smile. I'm ready to sing again and I understand now what my mother tried to tell me. I'm also ready to face this world alone.

This is an uplifting story, @mrnightmare.net. In a previous story you wrote about someone who thought he looked like a monster. But when he started smiling, he saw the world regarded him more positively. Here you have someone who hides his talent and who grieves alone. But, when he shares his talent and is among people, he realizes that his singing is a gift to him and to everyone else. Sharing his gift brings them joy and it brings him joy.

Thank you for posting this story in the Ink Well community.

Yes, I was but I wanted to have a different personality this time. It's about the random people after all.

Thank you as always and it's an honour.

Beautiful story,
Sometimes when hopes are lost, we need someone to lift us up and remind us, who really we are?😌😌

Hello @mrnightmare.net,
I think one reason your stories are so affecting is that we all have our secret selves. Even those of us who seem confident and capable struggle at some point against an insecurity of some kind. Your stories create situations where characters fight against that. You write with empathy and insight. It's always a pleasure to read your stories.

Thank you, it became part of my stories because of what I observed in the environment. Life is not just about happiness after all. There are challenges and those challenges will help us to become strong if we don't give up.

Beautiful story, @mrnightmare.net. I love how the two musicians came together after being rivals, and Azalea's encouragement helped Aron to find his voice and his motivation again.

"If you think you have some beautiful art to show? Go ahead and finish it. All of us are cowards but facing that cowardice makes us brave."

What a great sentiment and awesome dialog! I love it.

This is a motivational piece.
When life hits us, we rise to the challenge, no matter how hard it would seem. I love how our protagonist rose to the challenge and got motivated by his former rival.
It tells that surprises can come from the most unexpected places. That's why they are surprises. Lol😁
I love this story @mrnightmare.net keep it up.
