Zach and the Fairyland

Zach was 5 years old when his parents were dead. He couldn't shed more tears because of his understanding of the pain of death. Though he felt very lonely as time went by, he couldn't spend time sulking since the one who adopted him was cruel. He was working already even at his younger age and had no time to have fun like the other children. Though he's young, he could tell how hard life was and he couldn't do anything to change it. All he did was pray and play in his dreams. That time he met a fairy in his dreams after 2 years of suffering hard life in the house of the people who adopted him.

That's what he thought at first since he's been imagining beautiful things in his dreams and he thought that a fairy was one of them. However, in broad daylight, while he was searching for firewood into the woods. Someone saved him from the attack of that wild boar by lifting him to be in that tall tree. He was in shock knowing that he was located so high but that a fairy appeared in front of him to relieve his fear. Of course, he was not afraid since he was saying that fairy already.

The fairy flew around that tree as the dust of his wings colored the surroundings and introduced itself to Zach.

"My name is Sary," she said and smiled.

Sary handed her wings and Zach frighteningly reached out his hands to hold Sary's hands. Surprisingly, Sary flew above with Zach holding her, and a sweet smile was found on Zach's face. Zach didn't know what's happening but he shouted his name while having fun.

"Hey, my name is Zach."

Sary just smiled and flew a bit higher to let Zach see the view of the world from above.

"Can I stay in your place?"

All of a sudden Zach asked Sary. It's not a surprise since Sary witnessed how hard Zach's life was in that place.

"Are you sure about that? I don't live here just so you know."

After what Sary said, Zach just nodded with a smile. Without delay, their adventures started.

They started their journey already but they stopped when Zach was amazed by how beautiful the waterfall was. Zach asked Sary to go to the peak first to see the view below. He placed his hands in the water and felt the cold water. Then Sary decided to show more to Zach what the beauties of nature were. They flew through from where that waterfall came from. Zach didn't stop smiling because of happiness, he couldn't believe he was seeing this pretty.

Instead of going directly to Sary's place they roamed around and forgot it's already night. They were flying above the trees and Zach saw the moon perfectly beautiful. It was so big and bright as if he could hold it in his arms. Slowly, the clouds were covering the clear beautiful sky. They decided to hide in the tree first or they'd just sleep there since it's already nighttime.

Zach was disappointed when the beauty was covered but there was no rain. Suddenly, Sary threw something colorful in the air, it's like dust but it didn't fade, and after that, fireflies showed up one by one. The dark surrounding suddenly turned bright with the help of fireflies. The whole surrounding was filled with small lights from the fireflies that it's like Zach was seeing fireworks above and he didn't notice he fell asleep.

"Zach! Zach!" Sary hurriedly woke up Zach.

"What's wrong Sary?" Zach confusedly asked while he's claiming his senses after he just woke up.

"I saw a Dinary just a while ago roaming around."

Sary answered Zach and she looked very afraid of it. Then she explained that Binary was a bad fairy who did a taboo and threw it in a place called Langris. A place where fairies suffer and torment their souls. When they survive in that place they will roam around to have their revenge outside the fairies world called Mercury. They will keep hunting fairy outside because Mercury has a barrier that can't be entered immediately. That fairy who survived from Langris will become stronger because their will to revenge makes them strong.

"Really? Then let's hurry up. I want to be in your world right away."

The Dinary was flying above with the only words it said was, "kill", and repeated it while eager to find fairies.

Sary decided to walk in the ground, for now, to avoid being spotted by that Dinary. They were hiding on trees and grasses when they thought Dinary was coming near them. The both of them were shivering because of fear of being seen but they never stopped running.

"SARY!"

Zach shouted when he almost fell on the peak. Luckily, Sary managed to hold his hand but the Dinary heard him. Immediately, the Binary flew towards them so fast, grinning with the red eyes sparkling. Zach just closed his eyes because of fear and he tried to let go of the hands of Sary since the Dinary was only hunting a fairy. Zach was not the one being endangered but Sary.

"What were you doing Zach?"

Sary was confused about what Zach did.

"You need to let go and fly since it's you who was being after."

Zach explained and Sary was very happy because of it. Her happiness brightened the whole surrounding and it became a strength of hers. The fairy became strong when they were happy and before Dinary reached them, it was pushed back because of Sary's power.

"Thank you Zach but worry not, I'll be 10 times stronger when you're beside me."

Sary just smiled and the Dinary faded like dust because of the power that formed a light the same as the sunshine. Zach smiled as well and said, "Thank you." He closed his eyes because he was tired already and when he woke up the beautiful place welcomed his sight.

They arrived at Mercury where it's the fairy's world. A lot of fairies were flying above left in the air with something colorful. Houses were built in the tall and big trees and there's a rainbow that never disappeared.

"What a lovely place but am I-"

Zach said while wondering if he's allowed to stay in such a beautiful world. He stopped when one of the oldies splashed him some dust and his wings were appearing. Sary just explained that he was a half-fairy but lived in the world of humans. When he was a baby his parents traveled to the human world and didn't come back after the Dinary killed his parents. The fairies didn't hear about what happened to their parents but when Sary found out she contacted the oldies and told them about his situation. That's why Sary kept him safe and watched him over until he decided to come together with her to their very own fairyland.

Zach cried because of happiness and couldn't imagine he could have this kind of life, so beautiful.

There have always been unhappy children and there always will be unhappy children. Even happy children experience unpleasant events. That's why fairy tales exist. They give children a place to go, in their minds, while bad things happen all around.

Thank you for posting this story, literally a fairly tale, in the Ink Well community. We appreciate when you engage with other members of community.

Fairytales dreams to skip the reality. What a wonderful place he long to be but sadly life on earth is half beauty half bad.
You can make this a children book with all the illustration and drawings for it to make a child wonder and read.

This is such a charming fantasy story, @mrnightmare.net. Very imaginative! I was glad that scary Dinary didn't catch Sary. (Or is it Binary? In the story, you used both spellings.) Very enjoyable tale!
