Five chicks in my backyard / (Cinco pollitos en mi patio)/ Monomad Challenge [Eng/Esp]

For several years now, I have been planting fruit trees in my backyard. Little by little, the place has become so full of vegetation that it almost feels like a small forest. And you might be wondering what that has to do with the chick in these photos. Well, that's exactly where this story begins.

Desde hace algunos años he ido sembrando árboles frutales en el patio de mi casa. Entre una cosa y otra, el lugar se ha ido llenando de vegetación hasta parecer casi un pequeño bosque. Y quizás se pregunten qué tiene que ver eso con el pollito de las fotos. Pues justamente ahí comienza esta historia.

The shade created by the trees is quite dense for most of the day, but small patches of sunlight find their way through the branches. Those illuminated spots have become the perfect setting for photographing some of the other residents of my backyard: a group of chicks that hatched only a short time ago.

La sombra que crean los árboles es bastante densa durante buena parte del día, pero entre las ramas quedan pequeños espacios por donde se cuelan los rayos del sol. Esos rincones iluminados se han convertido en el escenario perfecto para fotografiar a otros habitantes del patio: unos pollitos que nacieron hace muy poco.

There are five of them in total, and they are incredibly curious and active. I even gave them names... well, sort of: Chick 1, Chick 2, Chick 3, Chick 4, and Chick 5. 😅

Son cinco en total, muy inquietos y curiosos. Confieso que hasta les puse nombre... bueno, más o menos: Pollito 1, Pollito 2, Pollito 3, Pollito 4 y Pollito 5. 😅

My nephew is always teasing me because he says I'm constantly looking for something to photograph. To be fair, he's right. Since I haven't been able to travel to Havana these past few days—and probably won't be able to until the weekend—I've ended up turning my backyard into a small natural-light studio.

Mi sobrino siempre se burla de mí porque dice que ando buscando fotografías en cualquier parte. Y la verdad es que tiene razón. Como estos días no he podido ir a La Habana, y probablemente no pueda hacerlo hasta el fin de semana, he terminado convirtiendo mi patio en un pequeño estudio de luz natural.

Every day I find something different that catches my attention. I enjoy watching how the light changes, how new shadows appear, and how the animals make use of those spaces. In a way, this backyard has become my own personal laboratory where I can experiment and keep photographing.

Cada día encuentro algo distinto que me llama la atención. Me gusta observar cómo cambia la luz, cómo aparecen nuevas sombras y cómo los animales aprovechan esos espacios. De alguna manera, este patio se ha convertido en mi laboratorio personal para experimentar y seguir fotografiando.

Today I'm sharing these chicks with you, although I actually took many more photos of them. That's why I decided to split the series into two parts. I also found other interesting subjects around the yard that I'd like to share in future posts.

Hoy les traigo a los pollitos, aunque debo decir que hice muchas más imágenes de ellos. Por eso decidí dividir la serie en dos partes. Además, encontré otros detalles interesantes que también quiero compartir más adelante en futuras publicaciones.
