My Mother's Garden (ENTR)/Annemin Bahçesi

That's why my brothers and I used to fight. Nobody wanted to wake up early and do business. It was very difficult to mow the grass in the garden and to anchor the garden. We used to fight with my mother, we said it would be cheaper and easier to buy them from the market. My mother would talk for hours about the importance of soil. He used to say that one day there will be no land to farm and there will be hunger. He used to tell us that we could not find these vegetables outside without pesticides, hormones and artificial fertilizers. The first cucumber I ate in college, I understood what my mother said. Now I am trying to grow vegetables on my balcony on the apartment floor. As someone who understands the importance of an inch of land, even if it's late, you The beautiful legacy that my 74-year-old mother will leave us; I want to introduce your garden.

My mother has summer apple and winter apple trees in her garden. Summer apples are small red and sugary. Winter apples are green and slightly sour. There are peach trees, cherry trees, pear trees, quince trees, walnut trees and date trees that we call Amme. It is a different tree from the Amme Bagdat Date. It ripens in autumn. It happens a lot in our region and it is very popular. This garden is a new five year old garden, the trees are young and stunted.

Annemin bahçesinde yaz elması ve kış elması ağaçları var. Yaz elması küçük kırmızı renkte ve şekerli oluyor. Kış elması ise yeşil ve biraz ekşi oluyor. Şeftali ağacı, kiraz ağacı, Armut agacları, Ayva ağaçları, ceviz ağacı ve Amme dediğimiz hurma ağaçları var. Amme Bağdat Hurmasından farklı bir ağaçtır. Sonbaharda olgunlaşır. Bizim bu bölgede çok olur ve çok sevilir. Bu bahçe beş yıllık yeni bir bahçe, ağaçlar genç ve bodur cinsinden.

There are lettuce parsley, onion, mint, basil and naturally grown purslane in the garden. You can make both a meal and a salad of purslane. It would be nice as an appetizer in the form of cacık with yogurt. We make our winter dried mint by drying the mints in the garden. Here, almost everyone makes their own paste, jam and even red pepper as a spice.My mom makes jam from wild blackberries grown on the bushes outside the garden and it's delicious.

Bahçede marul, maydonoz, soğan, nane, reyhan ve doğal yetişen semiz otu var. Semiz otunun hem yemeğini hem salatasını yapabilirsizin. Yoğurtlu cacık şeklinde mezeside güzel olur. Annem Bahçe dışındaki çalılarda yetişen yabani böğürtlenden reçel yapar ve çok lezzetli olur.

In my mother's vegetable garden, there are Beans, Tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, cucumbers and zucchini. Especially the garden is full of pumpkins. Annemin sebze bahcesinde ise Fasulye, Domates, biber, patlıcan, salatalık ve kabak var. Özellikle bahçenin dört bir yanı kabakla dolu. Bizim burada kabak sadece Kabak sebzesi için değil, kabak çiçeği ve çekirdeği için de ekilir. Kabak çiçeği dolması bizim burada sevilen bir yemektir. Kabak çiçekleri çok narindir ve güneş altında solmaya başlar. Kabak çiçekleri eken den günün ilk saatlerinde toplanır ve dolması yapılır. The products we collect from the garden here are not sold in the market. We distribute it to our neighbors. We dry the excess in the sun and store it for the winter. In our region, namely Maraş and Gaziantep, dried eggplant, dried pepper, dried tomatoes and dried zucchini are very famous.

Bizim buralarda bahçeden topladığımız ürünler pazarda satılmaz. Komşularımıza dağıtırız. Fazlasını güneşte kurutur kış için saklarız. Bizim bölgenin yani Maraş ve Gaziantep'in kurutulmuş patlıcan, kurutulmuş biber, kurutulmuş domates ve kurutulmuş kabak çok meşhurdur.

Spending time in the garden is both very enjoyable and exhausting. Outdoors, people are very open. We made a nice casserole from beans harvested from the garden. And again, we made and ate salads with the products from the garden.
