Hello #Needleworkmonday Today I’m excited to share a upcycling project: a pot holder as a gift for a friend of my son’s who is a chef. The denim fabric is thick, making it ideal for protecting your hands from the heat—a very important quality for this practical craft. Here’s a detailed breakdown of how to make it.

La tela jeans es gruesa ideal para proteger las manos del calor, esta cualidad es muy importante para hacer esta util manualidad. Paso a detallar su elaboración.
Step by step//Paso a paso
Materials//Materiales:
- 03 rectangles of denim fabric, 12 x 22 cm
- 01 rectangle of patterned fabric with embroidery, 12 x 22 cm
- Thread, scissors, and a sewing machine.
- A 10-cm strip for the handle.
- 03 rectángulos de tela jeans 12 x 22 cm
- 01 rectágulo de tela estampada con bordado 12 x 22 cm
- Hilo, tijera y máquina de coser.
- 10 cm de tira para el asa.
Process//Proceso:
- Use scissors to cut out the 12 x 22 cm rectangles of denim and the printed fabric.
- Sew the printed fabric (with the print side facing out) and one piece of denim to the sides and bottom.
- Then turn it right side out so the embroidered side is on the front.
- Trim 2 cm off the denim rectangles and tuck them into the little pouch to make it thicker and provide better heat protection.
- Sew the top edge with the 10-cm strip as a handle.
- Sew all around the pot holder.
- Con la tijera cortamos los rectángulos de jeans y el estampado 12 x 22 cm.
- Cosemos el estampado al reves y 01 jeans en los laterales y en la parte inferior.
- Luego volteamos y nos queda la parte bordada cosida al frente.
- Cortamos 02 cm a los rectángulos de jeans y lo metemos a la especie de bolsita para que quede mas grueso y mayor protección al calor.
- Se procede a coser la parte superior con la tira de 10cm como asa.
- Cosemos todo alrededor del agarra olla.

Upcycling is something I’m getting more and more passionate about every day. This scrap of embroidered fabric came from a shirt I never wore because it wasn’t cotton. The denim scrap is from a pair of old-fashioned pants that I’d already upcycled into a bag before, and I still had a piece left over. So this morning I decided to cut it up and sew this pot holder. This way, I’m giving both materials a second life. I still have another piece of embroidery left—I’ll have to see what other project I can make with it later.
Sewing is a very enjoyable and entertaining activity; plus, we can make useful items for the home—especially for the kitchen. In this case, it’s for my son’s friend who’s a chef.

El reciclaje es una actividad que cada dia me apasiona mas. Este retazo del bordado era una camisa que nunca usé, porque no era algodón. El retazo de jeans es de un pantalón pasado de moda que ya habia reciclado antes en un bolso y aún me quedaba un trozo. Entonces hoy en la mañana decidí cortarla y coser este agarra olla. Asi le estoy dando una segunda oportunidad a ambos materiales. Todavia me queda otro bordado, voy a haber que otro proyecto pueda hacer mas adelante.
La costura es una actividad muy amena y entretenida, ademas podemos hacer piezas utiles al hogar y mas si es para la cocina, en este caso será para el chef amigo de mi hijo.
