NEEDLEWORK YOUR KITCHEN - Contest: Coasters in the shape of a sunflower🌻//Posavasos en forma de girasol🌻

Yesterday I set out to wash some clothes, meanwhile I was thinking what idea would be suitable to participate in the #NEEDLEWORKYOURKITCHEN contest, which this is my entry to the contest. When I finished making the crafts, I went looking for fabric scraps, I got several yellow and mustard colored ones, I decided to make coasters in the shape of a sunflower🌻. It will serve me to use on the dining table for a special moment. I'm happy for the #NeedleWorkMonday community initiative, which is about making any piece that is used in the kitchen area. Place where we spend the most time in the day. That place that we like to decorate or set with objects in the shape of fruits, flowers, leaves, vegetables and elements to protect, such as coasters, which prevent the glass from having direct contact with the tablecloth of the dining table or when the table does not have such a tablecloth this prevents the wood or glass from being stained. I chose the sunflower🌻 as the motif for my work because this flower is very beautiful for its peculiar color and because it brings back memories of my childhood. In my mother's garden there were some and when they bloomed, I grabbed the flower and peeled off the seeds and ate them, they were delicious, they tasted like coconut, at that time I did not know that they extracted the oil from it, which is very healthy to consume. After some time it dried up. Then in my garden I wanted to have this beautiful plant to show off with its beautiful flower, but in vain. I took several times seeds from a packet I bought to feed a parrot without success. So I have decided to do some work with that motif to keep that taste alive. Ayer me dispuse a lavar algunas prendas, mientras tanto pensaba que idea seria idónea para participar en el concurso de #NEEDLEWORKYOURKITCHEN, la cual ésta es mi entrada al concurso. Cuando terminé de hacer los oficios, fui a buscar retazos de tela, conseguí varios de color amarillo y mostaza, me decidí por hacer posavasos en forma de girasol🌻. Me servirá para usar en la mesa del comedor para un momento especial. Estoy contenta por la iniciativa de la comunidad #NeedleWorkMonday, la cual se refiere a hacer cualquier pieza que se utilice en el área de la cocina. Lugar donde más tiempo pasamos en el día. Ese sitio que nos gusta decorar o ambientar con objetos en forma de frutas, flores, hojas, verduras y elementos para proteger, como los posavasos, que evitan que el vaso tenga contacto directo con el mantel de la mesa del comedor o cuando la mesa no tiene dicho mantel este evita que se manche la madera o vidrio. Escogí el girasol🌻 como motivo para mi labor porque esa flor es muy bella por su colorido peculiar y porque me trae recuerdos de mi infancia. En el jardín de mi madre habían unas y cuando floreaban, agarraba la flor y les desprendía las semillas y me las comía, eran deliciosas, sabían a coco, en ese momento no sabía que de ella extraían el aceite el cual es muy sano su consumo. Después al tiempo se secó. Luego en mi jardín he querido tener esa linda planta para que se luzca con su hermosa flor, pero ha sido en vano. Tome varias veces semillas de un paquete que compré para alimentar una lora sin éxito. Entonces me he propuesto hacer labores con ese motivo para mantener vivo ese gusto. Sin más preámbulo vamos al tutorial.

Step by step//Paso a paso.

Materials//Materiales:

• Yellow fabric scraps.
• Mustard-colored fabric scraps.
• Sewing threads.
• Sewing needle.
• Molds.
• Scissors.
• Pencil.
• Pins.

• Retazos de tela color amarillo.
• Retazos de tela color mostaza.
• Hilos de coser.
• Aguja de coser.
• Moldes.
• Tijera.
• Lápiz.
• Alfileres.

Process//Proceso:

• I ironed the fabric.
• I proceeded with my pencil, drawing the circles using the molds on the fabrics.

• Planché la tela.
• Procedí con mi lápiz, dibujar los círculos usando los moldes sobre las telas.

• With the scissors I cut the drawn circles (04) mustard color, (40) yellow color.
• The yellow circles are folded twice, forming a cone, there they are sewn, one after the other.

• Con la tijera corté los círculos dibujados. (04) color mostazas, (40)color amarillo.
• Los círculos amarillos se doblan dos veces, formando un cono, alli se cosen, uno tras otros.

• With the help of the pins, hold the yellow petals inside the mustard-colored circle.
• Once pinned, place the other mustard-colored circle on top.

• Con la ayuda de los alfileres se sostienen los pétalos amarillos hacia dentro del círculo color mostaza.
• Ya sujetos se coloca arriba el otro círculo color mostaza.

Aseembly//Ensamblado

• With the help of the machine we sew the lids one on top of the other, leaving an opening.
• Then we turn the lids through the opening.
• We sew the opening and adjust the seam.

• Con la ayuda de la máquina cosemos las tapas una sobre otra, dejando una abertura.
• Luego viramos las tapas por la abertura dejada.
• Cosemos la abertura y ajustamos la costura.

...And ready my coasters in the shape of sunflower🌻.

...Y listo mis posavasos en forma de girasol🌻.
