TAMER LICENSE UTILITY

Tamer License allows players to unlock all the features of MuTerra. The Licenses were put on sale in January 2023 and in February 2023, we enabled it's use-case.

Players can now use their licenses on the tamers to activate them.

Tamer License NFT gets burnt after it activates a tamer. On one hand it reduces the MUT airdrop a player would receive by holding this NFT but on the other hand it opens up the avenue to earn MUT by playing the game.

DEPOSITING TAMERS

Once a tamer is activated, it can then be sent to the game engine, UNITY, that we are using. Once sent, the player is able to choose that tamer inside the game and play with it.

Only activated tamer can be sent to UNITY and is allowed to explore outside the first map. Depositing a tamer stops incoming MUT airdrop from that tamer but in return it allows you to use that tamer to collect resources and sell them for MUT, fight mutees and explore the game maps.

NEW PAGES, MARKET CHANGES AND DEFAULT TAMER

We added a few new pages and reworked our in-game market for better user experience.

Other assets page : This page now shows owned in-active tamers (tamers which have not yet been given a tamer license), owned active tamers (tamers which have been given a tamer license) and owned tamer licenses.

In-game assets : This page shows all the active tamers that have been sent to our game engine, UNITY, allowing the player to choose them and play with them inside the game.

Market Changes : Market now allows you to re-sell your tamer licenses. In addition to that, more filters have been added and are now working properly.

Default Tamer : In February, we also added a default tamer for the new players who would be joining the game. The default tamer, Manav, can be purchased by applying a tamer license to it (in the other assets page) and thus allowing the player to unlock all the features of the game even if he/she didn't own any other tamer previously.

COMMUNITY SUGGESTIONS

In our January release, we received a few feedbacks and we tried to go through as many of them as possible in the month of February. A few of those worth mentioning are :

MUT Stake all action : Earlier, players had to manually enter the amount of MUT they wanted to stake, but now the input box is pre-filled with the max MUT amount possessed by the player. We have also allowed clicking on the held MUT amount which automatically fills the staking input box.

Dialogues : There were some mistakes in the NPCs' dialogues in January' release. We corrected them and even added new dialogues to make the game more interactive in February's release.

MUT price : Another thing that was asked from us was to show airdropped MUT price in dollars to help calculate taxes every year. We have implemented that as well.

GAME ENGINE - UNITY

We did a lot of things on the UNITY side of the project. The top 2 most time intensive areas were tamer selection API and corresponding UI.

Bridging HIVE chain with a game engine that is running independently was no easy feat. We had to make sure that our API was secure and not open to any kind of exploits.
A lot of time went into coming up with a solution that would not only work for activated tamers but also for all kinds of future communications between UNITY and HIVE.

Restricting movement of an in-active tamer within the first map, grass movement of tamers and mutees, new maps, changing NPC dialogues and introducing simple battle mechanics are a few other things that were implemented on the UNITY side.

ILLUSTARATIONS

A lot of new illustrations were made in the month of February. You can see some of them in the background images of new and old pages.
New mutee illustrations were shared on discord and finally new uncommon tamer art - Echo was finalised.

PIXEL ARTS

It was a very busy month for our pixel artists. Sprite sheets for all existing tamers were created. In addition to that, sprite sheets of 6 mutees of different sizes and different movement animations were also created.
And finally new tile-sets and map were made for the players to explore!

STORY

Story of MuTerra dictates how the game will take shape. The maps, the tamers, the mutees and almost everything in the game depends on what the story of MuTerra entails.

In the month of February, we released the origin story of MuTerra in 2 parts. In addition to that, we worked on factors that dictate the making of different maps and existence of mutees and their abilities.

ECHO TAMER

A new tamer will be up for grabs this month! But it's not going to be like any other typical sales.
As was announced on our discord, MuTerra partnered up with 16 different projects based on HIVE. And this sale has something to do with them. More on this in our next post!

After February's release, some bugs were reported. We will squash them and have a better version ready for you.

TAMER NICKNAME - 1st MUT SINK

We plan on testing sinks for our MUT token in March's release. We went with tamer nickname as our first sink for MUT.
If everything goes well, we will be able to introduce more sinks in the future at a faster pace.
More on this later.

1st STEP TOWARDS MAKING HIVE-ONBOARDING EASIER

We believe that everyone should do their part in making HIVE chain the best!
And on that note, we will be adding an interactive way to understand HIVE and all it has to offer in this month's release. It will just be an initial proof-of-concept build to showcase the potential we have to on-board players to HIVE!

This update will also be part of March's releases.

MAIN FEATURES

The following 4 features are dependent on each other and we would like to release them all in one go. Thus it can extend the launch date to mid-April but we'll try our best to push these updates in March itself.

1. STAMINA SYSTEM

Stamina of a tamer is basically a restriction that stops a player from using a single tamer continuously to farm MUT by playing the game. This is a pre-requisite before we enable earning mechanism in the game.


2. CARRYING CAPACITY

Each Tamer and mutee has a limit to the amount of raw materials it can carry. This is another crucial restriction we need to put up so that players are forced to change maps to sell/deposit their collected materials, thereby lose stamina points and help us in controlling the amount of MUT we give out.

Carrying capacity can be increased by crafting items like backpack, pouch, etc. But this feature of crafting won't be part of this month's release


3. BUYING-SELLING OF RAW MATERIALS

Once the two restrictions mentioned above are implemented, we will allow players to sell their collected raw materials inside the game and earn MUT.
This feature needs to be released along with the above two points because only then players will be able to see the progress.


4. MUT TRANSFER FROM GAME ENGINE TO HIVE ENGINE

Now once a player has sold the raw materials and received MUT they'll need a provision to send that MUT to Hive Engine. This update will require us to create a secure API and put various checks in place in order to avoid any kind of exploitation.

This update alone can take some time to code and we might just push it's release to April. The communication between game engine and HIVE chain needs to be proper and we can't rush this.

ILLUSTRATIONS

Creating illustrations of new mutees never stops. It takes more than a week to make a single illustration worthy of MuTerra. Its rightly said that all good things take time.

In addition to mutee illustrations, new background images and artwork for UI are also being made. The results will be evident in March's release.

PIXEL ART

We are currently working on South Mangrove and a map for HIVE on-boarding. The maps being created are being setup in such a way to accommodate the various quests and stories that will come later.

This is really looking great. I am ashamed, that I did not go into the latest build of Muterra, but this will change as soon as I have some more free time in RL.
