Hello Hivean in Camping Club Hive Community

How are you all today, I hope you are doing well wherever you are

On Sunday, I again watched the folk festival in Takengon. The folk festival is a traditional Gayo horse race, Central Aceh, Aceh, Indonesia. This traditional tradition is only held twice a year in the district. Well, there is August 2022, to be exact, the birthday of Indonesia.

So this traditional horse racing tradition was held precisely to enliven the anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia. According to the writings I got from various articles on the Internet, this horse racing has been carried out since ancient times. We can say this is a tradition left by the Dutch Colonial and is still preserved today.

Well, what's unique about this tradition is that this horse racing competition is jockeyed by children who are still under 15 years old. According to one visitor I managed to interview at the time. In the past, this tradition was held after the agricultural harvest in the area.

Indeed, I had also previously gone to this people's party last April, but at that time, the moment was held a traditional horse racing competition at that time to commemorate the district's birthday. Well, this time is the exact moment of Indonesia's 77th Independence Day.

Alright, here's my short post on this occasion. And also some photos that I share with all of you in this amazing community. Hope you like my work.

Although I've never had the chance to watch it from the front, I've seen horse racing on TV and it looks very interesting. You have done very nice photography.

Looks like a popular festival there. Horse racing is common in the city here.
