LOL about the rooster, I did not want more chickens so no roosters but I had one hen that I named BEB for Beedy-eyed-Bitch, I swear she hated me but loved Donny. As long as I was looking at her she was good, but as soon as I turned my back she would attack my ankles. The coons will also kill chickens, if they can reach one through the wire, they will rip their head off.

That mean rooster is name Bob Backwards (his brother is named Bob) and he used to only attack me when my back was turned then he started to do it even if I was looking at him.

Thankfully there do not seem to be many raccoons around here and I have yet to see any sign of them. I worry more about owls than anything else.

yes, owls and hawks are bad mostly on little ones, we never had them bother the big chickens.

I left a tree directly over the coop (and a few around the dog yard) to help screen the chickens from owls and hawks. It is not a perfect system but so far so good.
