SC Freiburg, The uncommon team on the rise.
Good day sport fans and football lovers, this is my first time here and first post on sports talk 😁, I know I will enjoy my time in this community with what I have seen so far.
The world cup will be starting in a couple of days time, and the world cup fever is already starting to spread around the world bringing chills and excitement. I wish all of us a wonderful time, regardless of who we are supporting👍. I pray it will be a success.
My first post here will be about a sport club which is slowly going up on the rise. As a sports person and fan one of the best and inspiring moments in our experience is when we witness a team or person who we refer to as an underdog go on to surprise 😲 everyone and win a championship or title, that fairy tale story is what many of us dream about, 'aginst all odd', from zero to hero', etc. This stories are inspiring and beautiful in most cases.
Sport-Club Freiburg e.V. Which is commonly referred to as SC Freiburg or just Freiburg, is a German football club, that is based in the city of Freiburg im Breisgau, Baden-Württemberg, it is located at the south-western part of Germany. They play there top flight football and compete in the Bundesliga and the UEFA Europa League. They play there home games in the just concluded Euro Park stadium in Freiburg, bla bla bla....., I will not bore you with all the unnecessary info because many of us might already know this about them.
But guess what, there are things you don't know about this team that will amaze you both now and the nearest future.
As a supporter of Bayern munchen, I had to follow Bundesliga and that has been Goin on for years now.
Freiburg has had a steady but slow growth in the last 10 years, they have had the same coach in Christian Streich, he has been the coach of the team since December 2011😬. Nothing is new to the team, they have been through it all. From relegation battles to DFB pkal final up to European football.
The most prominent competitive side pushing for the title aside bayern are usually Borussia Dortmund and of recent RB Leipzig. This season there has even been a surprising and hardworking Union Berlin but you are a bit surprised I am not talking about them instead it's Freiburg who is the team on a serious rise that will amaze many.
Both the Men team I & II and the Women team have had the most upright and constant growth in German football in the last 3 years.
They have been doing good business in transfer, purchasing good players for low cost and utilizing those that they have already. The clubs approach to the game is of a very defensive and careful one. This saw have the best defensive record in the league only behind champions Bayern and so far this season they currently have the best defensive record so far making them the team with least goals conceded this season.
They have also reciprocated this form in the Europa league as they finished top of their group winning Five of possible six games and just being forced to a draw on the last match day which saw them qualify directly to the round of 16 of the competition.
I can see and project a silverware for this team, they came this close to one last season at the Cup final and lost only on penalties. Surprisingly, they happen to be a contender in every competition they are in this season even if many will find it hard to believe. But one thing is for sure, Time will tell and they will be seen for the team they are going to be and will rise to the top in no time.
