Hola amigos de la comunidad de Holos & Lotus, deseo que estén teniendo un buen día. Leí la iniciativa de nuestra amiga @damarysvibra donde nos invita a hablar sobre el libro que estamos leyendo en este momento. A mi me gusta mucho poder leer, antes me gustaba leer más novelas juveniles o incluso libros de crecimiento personal, ambos eran de mis géneros literarios favoritos. Pero ahora me está gustando más el género del suspenso y el thriller psicológico. En este momento estoy leyendo A fuego lento de la escritora Paula Hawkins.

Ya he leído dos libros de ella: La chica del tren y escrito en el agua. Ambos libros tienen ideas interesantes y una historia que atrapa hasta finalizarlos. No conocía a la escritora más que por la adaptación a película de La chica del tren, pero estuve después buscando más información y me encontré con la idea de que debía leerme el libro aunque ya me había visto la película y me había gustado bastante. Siento que leer el libro primero te da una sensación aún más íntima con la historia y el escritor, me gusta poder finalizar los libros si tengo la oportunidad antes de poder ver las adaptaciones a película, que en ocasiones no le suelen hacer mucha justicia a la historia contada en el libro.

No solo me gusta porque siento que sus historias son bastante originales, sino porque tiene una forma de contarlas que si o si tienes que terminar el libro. Esto hace que sea una gran escritora, porque ya que el libro te atrape de una manera que quieras terminarlo en días, quiere decir que la historia realmente vale la pena. Hay otras escritoras que tienen historias más rosas como los libros de Colleen Hoover, de ella me gustó leer Romper el círculo aunque la película no me gustó para nada. Son géneros literarios distintos, pero siento que siempre es genial poder ir variando lo que vamos leyendo, no solo para culturizarnos sino también para disfrutar de un tiempo libre mientras estamos dentro de otro mundo que no es el nuestro.

La historia que estoy leyendo tiene misterio, asesinato y tres mujeres que pueden ser las principales sospechosas de la muerte de un hombre. Apenas voy como por la primera parte del libro, por lo que aún estoy conociendo a la primera sospechosa y las cosas que podrían decir que la hacen ser la sospechosa. De los libros anteriores me quedo una sensación de que nunca sabes que va a suceder realmente y como podrá terminar las historias Paula Hawkins, y amo que pude encontrarla y darme esa oportunidad de leer sus libros y no quedarme solo con una lectura sino buscar más de sus obras literarias.

Leer para mí significa que puedo darme un espacio donde la creatividad y el enfoque lo coloco solo en la lectura que este leyendo, cuando era más joven leí muchos libros juveniles y aún me impresiona que habían libros de más de 500 páginas que me leí en tan solo tres días o más. Creo que la juventud te permite hacer este tipo de cosas jaja, pero ahora tardo más en leer un libro, porque voy despacio y entendiendo de que va la historia que este leyendo. Entre un libro digital y uno físico siento que me he acostumbrado a los libros en digital, pero tener tu libro favorito en físico es una sensación indescriptible, porque puedes volver a leerlo en papel y es una experiencia totalmente diferente.

Es agradable poder compartir también con otros la pasión por la lectura y poder inculcarlo en los más jóvenes. Leer permite que nuestro cerebro esté activo de manera que podamos siempre analizar y aprender cosas nuevas, incluso nos puede ayudar con nuestro dialecto y la forma en la que puede cambiar nuestra perspectiva de la vida. Cualquier instante donde se tenga el espacio, una taza de café y un ambiente agradable es bueno para tomar un libro y aventurarnos entre tantas historias increíbles que existen y que esperan por nosotros. Sin importar el género, cada lectura nos deja algo importante y renueva nuestras ideas.

My Current Read: A Dive into Suspense

Hello, friends of the Holos & Lotus community! I hope you are all having a wonderful day. I recently came across the initiative by our friend @damarysvibra, where she invites us to talk about the book we are currently reading.
I truly love being able to read. In the past, I leaned more toward Young Adult (YA) novels or even personal growth books—those were my two favorite genres. However, lately, I’ve been finding myself drawn more to suspense and psychological thrillers. Right now, I am reading "A Slow Fire Burning" by the author Paula Hawkins.

I have already read two of her previous books: The Girl on the Train and Into the Water. Both stories have intriguing premises and plots that keep you hooked until the very last page. I initially only knew the author because of the movie adaptation of The Girl on the Train, but after looking for more information, I realized I had to read the book—even though I had already seen the film and enjoyed it quite a bit.
I feel that reading the book first provides a much more intimate connection with the story and the author. Whenever I have the chance, I prefer to finish the book before watching the movie adaptation, as films often don’t do the original story much justice.

It’s not just that her stories feel original; it’s her storytelling style—it practically forces you to finish the book. To me, that’s the mark of a great writer. If a story grips you so tightly that you want to finish it in just a few days, it means it’s truly worth it. I also enjoy variety. There are other authors with "sweeter" stories, like Colleen Hoover. I liked reading It Ends with Us, though I have to say, I didn't like the movie version at all! Even though the genres are completely different, I think it’s great to vary our reading material. It’s not just about culture; it’s about enjoying our free time by stepping into a world that isn't our own.

The story I’m reading right now involves mystery, a murder, and three women who are the primary suspects in a man’s death. I’m only in the first part of the book, so I’m still getting to know the first suspect and the circumstances that make her look guilty. Based on Hawkins' previous work, I’m left with that feeling that you never truly know what’s going to happen or how the story will end. I love that I discovered her and gave myself the opportunity to explore her literary works rather than just sticking to one book.

For me, reading is a space for creativity and focus. When I was younger, I read so many YA novels; it still impresses me that I could fly through a 500-page book in just three days. I think youth gives you that kind of energy, haha! Nowadays, I take longer to finish a book because I move more slowly, making sure I really understand the depth of the story. Regarding the digital vs. physical debate: I’ve grown accustomed to digital books, but holding your favorite book in your hands is an indescribable feeling. Reading on paper is a completely different experience.

It is so rewarding to share the passion for reading with others and to encourage it in younger generations. Reading keeps our brains active, allowing us to analyze and learn new things constantly. it even improves our vocabulary and can shift our entire perspective on life. Any moment with a little bit of space, a cup of coffee, and a pleasant environment is the perfect time to pick up a book and venture into the incredible stories waiting for us. Regardless of the genre, every book leaves us with something important and refreshes our ideas.
