The Cost of Iron.

After investigating a home, I learned of a merchant's iron mask. After finding a burning cart and surviving an ambush, I rode back to warn the peasants, only to find them dying. Following the killers' tracks into the woods, I was ambushed and killed a wild bear.

In a new quest, I had to investigate this home after getting there when I heard peasants talking about pain inside the home. After getting inside, I talked to a peasant who said there is a merchant working with the Mongols who got an iron mark that the peasants tried to take from, but he had too many guards.

Mentioning whoever carries this iron mask is free to travel the roads without fear of being stopped by Mongols, the peasant said they had to flee and Jin said he will look for this iron mask, and this new quest started.

After getting to the spot, I found the cart was on flame and there were some dead bodies of Mongols and peasants. So I started investigating the area, checking the broken wooden wheel and scattered cargo for clues.

While I was investigating the area further and understood the iron mark was not there, some Mongols started shooting with fire arrows from afar as they were waiting for an ambush. The blazing projectiles lighted up around me.

After getting to safety, I started fighting those Mongols and I took all of them down deflecting their close-range sword strikes and cutting through their ranks with quick stance combinations. There were some archers whom I had to take care first.

Jin realized the Mongols could be searching for the man I met, so he decided to warn them. And for that, I started riding toward the wounded man real fast, but it looked like I was too late, as I found the small settlement completely silent with dead bodies of the peasants.

All of the peasants there were died, instead this one who asked me to save the merchant with the iron mark, mentioning he is a brother, and that he was trying to steal the iron mark to save the honor of their family.

Then I found the Mongols who killed them left tracks, so I started tracking the Mongols through the wood, in the dark.

When I was looking for the Mongols, I got ambushed by this wild bear into the wood, and I decided to take it down before continuing my search when the massive predator was roaring loudly.

While the bear kept attacking me, I was trying to master dodging, and at the same time, I was throwing black powder bombs towards the bear till it died. And I could continued tracking the Mongols only after that.

Those Mongol archers thought they had a perfect ambush set up until you rushed them down and chose absolute violence. Well done taking care of the beer next.
Their ambush looked solid, but rushing them before they could settle in completely changed the fight.
That bear attack came out of nowhere. I would have panicked more fighting the bear in the dark forest than facing the soldiers.
Sometimes nature ends up being a bigger threat than the actual enemies in this game.
That final survivor mentioning his brother was a sad moment. That scene makes you more determined to find the merchant, or were you mostly focused on getting revenge on the Mongols first?
It definitely added more urgency to finding the merchant.
Throwing black powder bombs at an angry forest bear is easily the most explosive way to handle a random encounter. I can still remember fighting these beer is a tough job. They don't give you enough flexibility to dodge also.
Yeah, these bears are much tougher than they first appear. They hit hard and don't give you much room to breathe.
