I wanted to do one boat ride experience while I was in Tokyo. The initial plan was to take the Hotaluna Boat cruise which runs between Asakusa District and Tokyo Bay, but the timings were not suiting my schedule. Sumaida river is Tokyo's primary scenic water way, connecting different parts of the city. Asakusa is the historic district of Tokyo and it is one of the stops from where mostly these boat rides start. Hotulana is a commercial boat ride, taking from one point to another and also a reasonable one. The price of Hotaluna is 2000 Yen, it is just a normal boat ride. I wanted something late evening time, after 6:30 and this one last ride was 4.30. So then finally I booked the Yakatabune cruise.

Yakatabune cruise is a fancy experience with dinner and drinks included in the price. The price is also very high compared to Hotaluna. This is 14000 Yen, and it includes unlimited drinks and a 10 course meal, giving a taste of Japanese cuisine and culture. We anyways wanted to do one of this type of experience so went ahead with this one. There are very limited seats for this one, so I had booked well in advance, almost a month before. The experience was very good experience, still I felt it is over priced. Around 90 dollars for a 2 hour cruise with dinner and drinks is a high price. But then it is about taking the experience probably once in a life.

The tables are reserved with names and the appetizers are also set on the table. So as soon we settled down in our designated space we could start with our meals. Everything was very well arranged. For the drinks there was a QR code, we had to place the order online and they would serve it at our table, this way there was no rush at the bear counter.

I do not eat pork and beef so I had requested them for a meal excluding it, my meal had more of vegetarian and sea food options.

We were being served one after another dish, it was all one serving only. I requested for one additional Prawns Tempura and they refused to give, which I found very odd.

Overall a good experience and we enjoyed it as a family

The ride was pleasant, once we were done with our meals then we went on the outer deck to enjoy the views.

There are very few late evening cruise, and the ones that are there are expensive. Me and family we enjoy the night scenes, but if one is ok to just do a simple boat ride then the Hotaluna is the best one to go with.
