Japan Diaries - The Aoniyoshi train experience
Japan is a wonderland. You can do so many things here your mind cannot fathom. Ideally one visit to Japan is not enough but then at the same time I would not want to travel there again, because it is an expensive place. So, spending money on the same place again is not my choice, I would rather explore a new place. But yes, if I would never have to bother about money then I would surely like to visit this place once more. This place has almost all the experiences that you would get in different parts of the world.
On of the experiences that I enjoyed is taking one of their special trains Aoniyoshi. As such Japan's Shinkasen, the bullet trains are very famous and a must experience, at the same time, there are many special theme trains also which one must not miss out. I wanted to do at least one of it, but somehow it was not fitting in to the itinerary. Finally, I managed this one on our route from Nara to Kyoto. Timing was tight but I made it.
A train like this in India would have a premium price, but here the price is reasonable. The design and the interiors all are very classy and give a very unique experience. There is very limited seating; it's good to do booking in advance. I had booked it around 3 weeks before. The only catch here is that you have to book 2 seats together, because the seating is designed in such a way. We were 3 of us so we had to book 4 seats. A single seat cannot be booked. Still, the pricing is decent. The 4 seat I booked a child seat, which is ok. They only recommend this, that for 1 person when we need to book 2 seats, it can be booked as 1 adult and 1 child, so that brings down the cost.

On one side, the seats face each other and on the other side, they are sideways.
They have pantry service also available with limited items. Anyways, that's not important. Ours was a short 1-hour journey and a very nice experience.
At Nara station from where I boarded the train, and got down at Kyoto, from where again I had to take another train to Arashiyama, to visit the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest.
