Knowingly, Unknowingly we destroy nature in so many ways

avatar

We have become expert in destroying our nature. We like to keep chopping trees, burning fossil fuels, pollute the environment. There are somethings that are not in our control, but there are things which are in our control and we do not follow it.

Let us talk about the Tissue paper Industry today. This is one commodity that we use so mindlessly, especially people in the west, where the major use of tissue rolls is in bathroom and kitchen. Honestly till the time I shifted here to Oman, never in my home in Mumbai we ever used tissue rolls in the bathroom. There are jet sprays and those are enough. But when I came here, it became like a compulsion, because every guest who would come would ask for it. Not only in bathroom, but also the kitchen use. In the kitchen I was always in a habit of using a cloth for all purpose, cleaning, holding. Whereas here kitchen rolls are in fashion.

Tissue wipes are like compulsory if you have a gathering and people use it so mindlessly. I see they just keep on pulling it for use. There is a certain amount of toxic chemicals that get released from these tissue rolls and they do impact our environment. The softer the tissue the harder it is on the environment. There are very few recycled products in this industry, majority are made from the timber trees. Do we even realize how many trees get cut all across for manufacturing paper and tissue rolls. This can be taken care of. Recycling of paper has limitations and once that limit has come it can be recycled into a tissue paper.

Even a nature lover who claims to be taking care of the environment makes use of the tissue rolls in any way is contributing towards destruction of nature. While our habits may not allow us to completely eliminate the use, we can be mindful of its use. We can have cloth towels in all possible uses in our home where tissues can be replaced. Specially in the kitchen. We can keep cloths, sponge for cleaning and eliminate the use of tissue rolls completely. If it's a desperate need then the least, we can do it to buy the recycled tissue paper rolls. In the olden days we used handkerchiefs but I see that lady's handkerchief is almost out of fashion now and have been replaced by usage of tissues. Especially when someone has cold, they use it like no one's business.

Here in supermarkets, I see that tissue boxes are the most saleable item. There are offers on it and they are always sold in big packets, combined offers. The softer the more expensive it gets. Facial tissues can be easily replaced with handkerchiefs, that's how it was once upon a time. Toilet rolls should be used only if there is no jet spray alternative available and it would be good to go in for recycled ones. Kitchen rolls can be easily eliminated with kitchen towels. They will just need a wash and can be used for a longer time.

I do not feel in any way usage of Tissues in any form is a necessity and this one product can be easily eliminated from the market by changing our habits. What do you say?

Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸

I live in a village and rarely use tissues. You could say almost never. Most of the people in my village don't need tissues. In the toilet, we only use water and soap, in the kitchen and everywhere else we only wipe with a cloth. So, our villagers are people who care about the environment. 😁😁😁

That's so nice. Yes, in rural areas people do not fuss about these things and have better ways of life

It is just a matter of getting off the use of it and making a habit of the substitute.
Tablecloths and sponges are the alternatives for the kitchen as well as water in the restroom.

There is alternative for every tissue use. If this whole industry is scrapped off there is not really going to be any miss of this product in the market.

True on all grounds. Indeed there is and they won't be missed.

Tissues is one commodity that is practically extinct in our home. And yeah, I've seen the use of it so prevalent in the West and I wondered why. Cloths are always the best for wiping surfaces and for using the bathroom, couldn't say it's hygienic in the least bit or even thorough.

I barely used it in India, but here in Middle East, it is used more then water also and I was amazed when I shifted here new of how recklessly people used it.

We have to take special care of the environment In which tissue paper can be used. Always keep your clean cloth in the kitchen and keep washing it every second or third day.,

I don't think toilet paper, tissues, napkins, and paper towels are harmful to the environment at all. What's harmful is the cut down and not replant mentality of companies whose incentives are maximizing profits. These items are all carbon based materials that are harvested, used and put into the ground to store the carbon as the materials decay. Removing matured growth (trees) is a necessary function because mature trees are at the end of their accumulation phase, however, lumber companies clear fields instead of choosing the largest and oldest trees. Trees represent the de facto carbon removal network for our planet. If we think their is too much carbon in our air, we should be growing more and more trees, while finding ways to reduce industrial contribution to carbon output.

Not everywhere it's recycled in the right manner and this creates a lot of concern. Yes, you are right, the major problem is that what is cut is not replanted again. It takes years for a tree to grow and just minutes to make it fall and keep destroying the environment.
Because there is a high demand these industries are flourishing. If these demands cut down, these industries will also have to decrease their production. I feel it's all a cycle

Thank you. There are so many ways in which we destroy nature, and this is just one small part of it. But if we become mindful and do every small bit then it will matter over a period of time in big way

Nature is in a real danger with so many people knowing so little about the things that cause damage to what brings us health. It's ridiculous how people are the one destroying nature but still get annoyed when see all the nature changes without realizing that they produced everything.

You know, 2 decades back when I used to travel to places in Europe I found them much greener then now what it is, which clearly shows how we are destroying it with our ever increasing demands

That's painful, but nature is definitely changing with each passing day, and not in the right direction...
