Ladies of Hive Community Contest #312 - Seasons of the year
@LadiesofHive Community Contest #312 questions for the week are:
1️⃣ Temperate parts of the world typically experience four "seasons" of the year — spring, summer, autumn, and winter. But some parts of the world have a "dry season," a "rainy season," or "seasons" where there are frequent storms, extreme cold, extreme heat, El Niño, Harmattan, and so forth. Which is the most difficult season of the year for you? Why is it difficult, and what do you do to make it bearable?
~ 𝐀𝐍𝐃 / 𝐎𝐑 ~
2️⃣ If you live in an area of world where seasons are usually predicable and regular, do you like that stability, where weather usually follows expected patterns? Or do you like more variety, where weather is more changeable? Is there one season when you really thrive and you're the happiest?
My life is spread out in two different countries, which both have a climate of its own. One is Oman, which is a temporary home since the past 10 years and may be a couple of years more and the other is India, which is my actual home. Through the year I keep travelling between the two cities of these countries, which are Mumbai in India and Muscat in Oman.
Oman is a part of Middle East and in this region we have only two seasons, Summer and Winter. From May to Oct is summer and Nov to April is winter. Summer time is something I do not like here in Muscat. The temperature gradually rises to 50 degrees which is horrible heat and during day time stepping out is like getting into a furnace. Outdoor activities become minimal. The heat can really make you sick. You cannot be outdoors in sun for a longer time with sun at 50 degrees on your head.
But life does not stop with it; it goes on as usual. I am indoors most of the time and our activities are also indoors. Because of such climate in this region our infrastructure is also developed in the manner where we have lot of indoor activities to do which makes the summer easy for us. Day to day life I keep it easy going. We travel point to point by car and then anywhere we go indoors have all air-conditioning, so then that is not a problem. Then winter is a delight here, because there are ample outdoor activities that we can do.
That was about Muscat. If I have to talk about Mumbai, the heat here is getting equally bad, and the humidity level is also high here. Mumbai traditionally has 3 seasons. Winter, summer and monsoon, but over the years we have barely experienced winters in Mumbai. It feels like our climate here is shifting to only 2 seasons a year, summer and monsoon. Peak Summer goes up to 40 to 45 degrees which is equally bad as Muscat. The challenge here is we cannot run the air-conditions all day long, because the electricity charge is expensive. In Muscat we can do that, because the electricity is comparatively very cheap so we do not feel much of the heat indoors. Whereas in Mumbai we have to constantly monitor the usage, else it will be a big charge to pay. Also, like Muscat, Mumbai infrastructure is not supporting more of indoor activities to beat the heat. So, even though summer temperature is more in Muscat, it is convenient there compared to Mumbai.
I do not like extreme winters as such. Cold is something I cannot bear. I would prefer a temperature between 20 and 25 degrees. Lesser than that makes me uncomfortable. Going with my body type, I think I am in the right places.
Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸

What an interesting comparison between the weather in Muscat and Mumbai! Intense heat can be truly difficult to endure—especially when humidity levels are high—and the high cost of electricity makes using air conditioning an expensive affair.
Both places have their pros and cons
It was really interesting to read about your experiences with weather and seasons in both cities. Speaking of our side here in Sylhet, Bangladesh, the weather is quite pleasant right now with a gentle touch of approaching winter in the air!
That's so nice. Mumbai is supposed to be this way too but since the past couple of years, all we experience is heat
That's true, climate changes affect everywhere. Hope the weather cools down there soon! Stay comfortable.
Esas temperaturas de verano tan elevadas si que deben ser horribles. Pero que bueno que pueden trazar estrategias para que no les afecte las actividades diarias. Lindo día
They are really bad, like how extreme winters can make you depressed, extreme summer can also play on you
Wow, 50 degrees is really extreme I can only imagine how hard it must be to go outside when it's that hot. Living between two countries with such different climates must be an interesting experience.
People like us are still ok, those who have outdoor jobs, for them it is killing

Being able to carry out all those activities—using the options you’ve shared—to get through the summer with ease is wonderful. Likewise, enjoying the pleasant aspects of winter (provided it’s not too extreme) is great; it’s a good feeling to know you’re in just the right place. Thanks for sharing your experiences, my friend!,

Cold weather is nice, but when it gets too cold, especially during winter, it can become unbearable. Summer is nice, too, because you can enjoy lots of outdoor activities. However, when the temperature goes beyond 28°C, it can get really hot as well. Here in the Philippines, temperatures can even exceed 40°C, and you really have to avoid staying under the sun for too long because many people suffer from heat-related illnesses, including heatstroke.
I prefer between 20 and 30 degrees, that's best. More or less then this is very uncomfortable
I think I would prefer winter in Oman too. Having the freedom to enjoy outdoor activities without worrying too much about the weather must feel great
Absolutely, it is the best time of the year
