Ladies of Hive Community Contest #296 - No news is Good news

@LadiesofHive Community Contest #296 questions for the week are:

1️⃣ What is one thing you’ve unlearned in the first half of the year that improved your life? It could be a habit, a mindset, or a direction you were heading in. If you haven’t unlearned anything, what is one thing you learned during this time that has made your life better?
~ 𝐀𝐍𝐃 / 𝐎𝐑 ~
2️⃣ Despite worries and expectations, good news still finds its way to us. What is a recent piece of good news you’ve received? If it’s been a while, what kind of good news would make you truly happy right now?

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Life is always about learning, unlearning and growing. Through our life no matter what age we are at, We keep learning. This is something that happened last month and I will like to confront it in a honest manner. My son is now 29, but sometimes I still cannot accept that and I keep looking at him like a little boy and keep telling him to do things, like how we guide small children.

Last month we went on a family holiday. Me and hubby we stay in Oman and he lives in Mumbai. We were to travel from our respective locations and meet at one point from where we would all proceed together. Before the trip for packing I kept telling him, what to take and packing instructions. At one point he told me, Mom, stop it, I am 29 now and I know what to do. In that moment I did not like it but then I did give a serious thought on it, and I realized I am wrong. He has grown up but I keep seeing him as a small boy, just out of habit.

I really gave some serious reflections to this matter and then I realized I was doing the same thing what my father and mother-in-law did to me. I looked back at my time when I was the same age and I realized how irritated I would get when my parents and in-laws and even my elder sister kept giving me instructions all the time of what to do and what not to. It is the same thing I am repeating. That day I made up my mind that I am going to stop this. I will not say I was nagging him, but unconsciously I was to an extent and I did not realize that.

This is something that I have learned lately and I need to be mindful that I am not going to continue doing it with him.

Where good news is concerned, yes, it's true that even with all the worries in the world something good will also find it's way. For me at this moment life is no high no low kind of thing, and I prefer it this way. The last few years especially from 2020 to 2024 were very rough for me and my family so after all the turmoil's this stagnation feels good. And I keep praying that it's ok if there are no highs but then at the same time there should be no lows also. For me right now, no news is the best good news :-)

Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸

I think lots of parents find themselves in that phase, where they keep seeing their adult children as small kids. Glad you're unlearning that, I'd appreciate it a lot if my mum would do unlearn that too. 😅

Oh my dear, trust me it's very difficult and you will only fully understand this when your children grow up and you will be at a similar stage.

I understand that it takes time to accept that your son has grown up; something similar happened to me with my daughter – I think that’s just how it is for us as mums. The idea that no news is the best news seems to be the best way to look at it. Thank you for sharing your experiences, my friend,

Thank you dear. It's difficult for parents to fill up the void but that's how life works

It's that sudden realization that we can't treat our children like children anymore and that moment when they have become adults in their own right has already walked passed us a while ago, A parent's habit dies hard, ouch, my bad. Yes. I have been there,,and that humbled me.

I can only understand my parents emotions now when I am in this place. It's circle of life, goes on from one generation to another
