Visiting the Bear Park in Bern

Bern is the Capital city of Switzerland, though Zurich and Geneva are more popular cities and many people think that either of them is the Capital, but it's not. The old city of Bern is very attractive. The City center of Bern has a very medieval touch, the cobbled streets and the trams running through these streets, it kind of makes you feel that you have gone back by 2 decades. There are few famous attractions in Bern to see and the Bear Park is one of them. From the station a bus goes straight to the entrance of the park. It's a small park, nothing big to fascinate about, but if you are here then you must see.

This park is located right at the edge of the old city, from where the road up also goes to the Rose Garden, which I wrote about a few days back. More than the bear pit, the views from this part are very beautiful. There is a bear pit which houses the Bernese Bear. The park also has some activities, we did not get into that part, we spent some time watching them and then moved on since there was time constraint. Looking at them, it felt like they were very well kept in a natural environment. The park stretches over an area of 5000 sq mtrs, which is quite a good area. But still I do not like to see animals caged up in any way.

I was constantly looking on this side, hoping that the bear will come, but they did not seem to be liking this area :-)

Someone from the other side shouted that the bears were on the other side, so everyone moved on that side and then we could finally see them.

There were 3 of them constantly moving from one side to another

This one was in full play mood

Children were having a good time watching them at play

This one seemed to be teasing the children, everyone was anticipating that he will climb up but he would take a few steps and then go into the bushes and he kept doing that for a long time, finally we gave up, after all you cannot do anything with their mood :-)

The two of us :-)

After spending around an hour, we left as it had got very cloudy and it had started drizzling. As I mentioned, it was nothing very great, but it was a pleasant experience.

Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸

I don't like to see caged animals either, but I enter into the dilemma that maybe being in their natural habitat they could be prey to hunters...
The nice thing about this place is that they are in something similar to their natural space, and not just a cage with a concrete floor. I think the closer they are to nature, the less damage there is.

That's true, they have a home that suits them and the area is big enough for them to wander which is one good thing

I'm definitely one of those that thought Geneva was the capital city of Switzerland. The image of the playful bear was interesting to view, holding onto the log while surveying the environment. Great that they can feel at home in this very habitable place full of trees :)

I guess that's what is important even when you like to have them in your space.
That's the confusion many people have. Bern is not even popular on the tourist charts so it kind of gets missed out.

Not sure about the size of the park but the bear seems a lot happier than those you see at the Zoo, so I hope he's safe and well-cared :)

That's true, they have a very comfortable setting and a big area to move around, which more or less must be making them feel at home

That makes me very happy, really! We all know how bad animals are treated in most of the zoo's so I'm happy a place like this one exists.
