The reason for the fear of clowns - Review: IT | Reseña: ESO [Eng/Esp]

Greetings, friends of the community, I hope you are feeling great. It's been several weeks since I could read a book again with free time and several days ago I started reading one of Stephen King's best works, which I had never read but I knew from the movie, but as you all know, in most cases the original works (the books in this case) always surpass their adaptations (the movies) so I gave myself the task of reading the book and here I am to tell you a little of my opinions about it, so in this case, I want to tell you about "It" by Stephen King.
The best introduction I can give you to this incredible work of Stephen King is the following: The novel tells us the story of a group of friends who face an unknown entity they call "It", who is terrorizing a small town in the state of Maine called Derry, where countless events occur and only the group of friends really know what is happening, so they want to end it once and for all and thus free themselves from the burden that each one feels.
To put the story in context, I will tell you in a linear way the events, because in the course of the story there are comings and goings between different years, so as not to confuse you I consider that it is the best. We begin in a rainy week of 1957 in the city of Derry, where we meet two key characters that start the story, Bill (10 years old) and George Denbrough (6 years old), being George the one who decides to go out to play in the street after his brother does not want to accompany him, but he does prepare a little paper boat with which to entertain himself.

George plays with his little paper boat until the current of the water, the boat ends up falling into a drain, when George looks out with intentions of recovering his boat as a gift from his brother, a clown appears, who talks to George and tells him that his name is Pennywise, after he tries to convince him to come closer so he can recover his boat, the clown ends up ripping off his arm, so George dies by bleeding to death, thus beginning a story with many more events that would be to come.

A year after the event, a group of children end up becoming friends after noticing that each of them have certain problems (such as suffering from stuttering, being hypochondriac asthmatic, being overweight) so they consider themselves as losers, even creating their own club called "The Losers Club". So others join for different reasons, making a total of 7 members of the club. In the course of the story, "It" appears to each of them in different forms, because "It" can take different forms depending on what generates more fear to those who appear to them.
When the Losers Club decides to investigate what is going on, they discover that "It" has been in Derry for a long time, only "IT" goes out to kill and make disasters every 27 years, so it can go unnoticed by people when it disappears to rest and wakes up again 27 years later to repeat the cycle, but the Losers Club believes they have found a perfect ritual with which they can destroy "IT", so they all decide together to confront "IT" with the intention of not returning.

Before I start with my opinion about this novel, I want to say that what I mention about it above is just a small summary of a beginning of the story, I don't talk about everything that happens in a general way in case someone is really interested in reading the book, which honestly is quite long but totally worth doing it, so I preferred to leave the rest of the story as an unknown so as not to reveal any spoilers and so whoever decides to know everything that happens on their own can do it and can enjoy it to the fullest.
My opinion regarding the story, is that it is very well constructed, although at the beginning it can be a little confusing because of the way it develops between different years, once you advance it really becomes very easy to understand and even more enjoyable those time jumps, because at certain times we are kept in expectation of what will happen next and in this type of books where horror and suspense are at the surface, I would say that is one of the strongest and most entertaining points for any lover of these genres.

Something that I would say that is good to take into consideration, is that it is not a book for all ages, really the story is very descriptive and there are certain things that happen that I don't want to mention, but that really are very strong, to the point of seeming grotesque, so those who want to read the story should take that into consideration, although clearly I would say that when you decide to read something that involves a demonic entity, the least you can expect to find in a story like this is death, but in this book it really goes to a much higher level, although with this I don't mean that the reading is not enjoyable, I would say that even those reactions to certain things is what makes it a quite unique and very real story.
Finally, I want to add that I am a lover of horror and stories like this, so I knew more or less what I could face, but certainly this book exceeded my expectations and therefore I consider it one of the best of Stephen King and most likely why it is one of his most famous stories, they have no waste and if you are someone who wants to start in the world of reading, Stephen King's stories are certainly a good place to start.

Saludos, amigos de la comunidad, espero se encuentren genial. Han pasado varias semanas desde que pude volver a leer un libro con tiempo libre y hace varios días que empecé a leerme una de las mejores obras de Stephen King, la cual nunca había leído pero conocía por la película, pero como todos saben, en la mayoría de los casos las obras originales (los libros en este caso) siempre superan a sus adaptaciones (las películas) por lo que me di a la tarea de leer el libro y aquí estoy para contarle un poco de mis opiniones sobre el mismo, por lo que en este caso, quiero hablarles de “It” de Stephen King.
La mejor introducción que puedo darles a esta increíble obra de Stephen King es la siguiente: La novela nos cuenta la historia de un grupo de amigos que se enfrentan a una entidad desconocida al que llaman “Eso”, quien se encuentra atemorizando a una pequeña ciudad del estado de Maine llamada Derry, donde ocurren incontables sucesos y sólo el grupo de amigos sabe realmente lo que está sucediendo, por lo que quieren terminar con ello de una vez por todas y así liberarse del peso que cada uno siente.
Para poner la historia en contexto, les contaré de una manera lineal los acontecimientos, porque en el trascurso de la historia hay idas y venidas entre diferentes años, por lo que para no confundirlos considero que es lo mejor. Empezamos en una semana lluviosa de 1957 en la ciudad de Derry, donde conocemos a dos personajes claves que dan el inicio a la historia, Bill (10 años) y George Denbrough (6 años), siendo George el que decide a salir a jugar en la calle luego de que su hermano no quisiera acompañarle, pero sí le prepara un barquito de papel con el cual entretenerse.

George juega con su barquito de papel hasta que por la corriente del agua, el barquito termina cayendo en un desagüe, cuando George se asoma con intenciones de recuperar su barco al ser un regalo que le hizo su hermano, aparece un payaso, quien habla con George y le dice que se llama Pennywise, luego de que este intente convencerle de acercarse para que pueda recuperar su barco, el payaso termina por arrancarle el brazo, por lo que George muere al desangrarse, iniciando así, una historia con muchos más sucesos que estarían por venir.

Un año después del suceso, un grupo de niños termina haciéndose amigos al notar que cada uno de ellos tienen ciertos problemas (como sufrir de tartamudeo, ser hipocondriaco asmático, tener sobrepeso) por lo que se consideran a sí mismos como perdedores, incluso creando su propio club llamado “El club de los perdedores”. Así se van sumando otros por distintas causas haciendo que sean un total de 7 los pertenecientes al club. En el transcurso de la historia a cada uno se les va apareciendo “Eso” de distintas formas, porque “Eso” puede adoptar distintas formas según lo que le genere más miedo a aquellos que se les aparezca.
Cuando el club de los perdedores decide investigar sobre lo que está sucediendo, descubren que “ESO” está en Derry desde hace mucho tiempo, sólo que “ESO” sale a matar y a hacer desastres cada 27 años, por lo que puede pasar desapercibido para las personas cuando desaparece a descansar y despierta nuevamente 27 años después para repetir así el ciclo, pero el club de los perdedores cree haber encontrado un ritual perfecto con el que puede destruir a “ESO”, por lo que todos juntos deciden enfrentarse a “ESO” con intención de que no vuelva.

Antes de empezar con mi opinión sobre esta novela, quiero decir que lo que menciono sobre la misma más arriba es sólo un pequeño resumen de un inicio de la historia, no hablo de todo lo que sucede de forma general por si alguien realmente se interesa en leer el libro, que honestamente es bastante largo pero vale totalmente la pena hacerlo, por lo que preferí dejar el resto de la historia como una incógnita para no revelar algún spoiler y así quien decida conocer todo lo que sucede por su cuenta pueda hacerlo y pueda disfrutarlo al máximo.
Mi opinión con respecto a la historia, es que está muy bien construida, aunque al principio pueda ser un poco confusa por la manera en que se desarrolla entre distintos años, una vez que avanzas realmente se vuelve muy fácil de entender y hasta resulta más disfrutable esos saltos de tiempo, porque en ciertos momentos nos mantienen a la expectativa de qué es lo próximo que sucederá y en este tipo de libros donde el terror y el suspenso están a flor de piel, diría que es uno de los puntos más fuertes y entretenidos para cualquier amante de esos géneros.

Algo que sí diría que es bueno tener a consideración, es que no es un libro para todas las edades, realmente la historia es muy descriptiva y hay ciertas cosas que suceden que no quiero mencionar, pero que realmente son muy fuertes, hasta el punto de parecer grotescas, por lo que aquellos que deseen leer la historia deben tener muy en cuenta eso, aunque claramente diría que cuando decides leer algo que involucra a una entidad demoniaca, lo mínimo que se puede esperar encontrar en una historia así es muerte, pero en este libro realmente llega a un nivel mucho más allá, aunque con esto no quiero decir que la lectura no sea disfrutable, diría que incluso esas reacciones a ciertas cosas es lo que hacen que sea una historia bastante única y muy real. .
Por último, quiero agregar que yo soy un amante del terror y las historias así, por lo que sabía más o menos a lo que me podía enfrentar, pero sin duda que este libro superó mis expectativas y por eso lo considero como uno de los mejores de Stephen King y muy seguramente por eso es una de sus historias más famosas, no tienen ningún desperdicio y si tú eres alguien que quiere iniciar en el mundo de la lectura, las historias de Stephen King son sin duda un buen lugar en donde iniciar.

Recuerdo que hace varios años atras cuando me adentré al mundo de la lectura conseguí ese libro luego de enterarme de que la peli era una adaptación. Leí muy pocas paginas (creo que por ser tan largo lo vi infinito) y luego lo dejé, creo que definitivamente no era mi tiempo ni mi edad, pero siento que ahora si estoy preparada para leerlo y disfrutarlo.
La pelicula me fascina, asi que tengo muchas expectativas del libro.

Realmente leer IT es un reto, porque de verdad es muy extenso, pero lo extenso es porque te explican y dan muchos detalles que realmente son impresionantes e interesantes, espero en algún momento puedas leerlo.
