Hello everyone, for those who already follow me, you know that I work with children and today I come to talk about a very important topic!!! How to prepare a child for a better future?

Seeing the kids running, jumping and playing everywhere is really nice! So young and full of energy, we have the impression that this phase will be eternal, right? However, from childhood, it is necessary to think about how to prepare children for the future. After all, what will the world be like in which they will be adults? In principle, the school plays a very important role in the lives of students. But fathers, mothers and caregivers must also support children's preparation for the future.

Tips to prepare children for the future Discover some important skills and knowledge that children can exercise from an early age so they are ready for the future:

  • Socio-emotional
skills If you are more attentive to your son or daughter's school documents, you must have already noticed that the development of socio-emotional skills is often mentioned there. This is because this is a major concern of current education.
Schools already understand that to prepare children for the future, they need not only to provide quality content, but also to help students interact and live in society.
For this, it is necessary to help children develop resilience, teamwork, persistence, flexibility, empathy and other characteristics related to social and emotional life. After all, all these skills help the little ones to live in a group.

In addition, by practicing socio-emotional skills, they will be increasingly prepared to face adversity and deal with life's challenges more efficiently and confidently. So, to stimulate socio-emotional education, it is essential to:

• Stimulating coexistence with different groups
• Encouraging the child to make decisions
• Talking about emotions and helping the child to deal with them
• Stimulating self-esteem and self-confidence
• Between others!

  • Financial education
If you were born in the 80's or 90's, you probably didn't have a lot of information about how to handle money as a child. Of course, in adult life, you may lack this knowledge to make decisions and choices. Therefore, to prevent this from happening in the future with the little ones, it is important to prepare children for the future, also in relation to money! In this way, the family can:

• Explain that things have a price and show the child, for example, that to get something from the supermarket you have to pay for it
• Show a R$50 or R$100 bill and tell what you can buy with it, so that the little ones start to relate the product to values
• Explain that, on the same note, it is not possible to buy some more expensive things
• Teach where the money comes from and how the family earns every penny
• Show that it is not always possible to buy two things, that is, it is necessary to make choices
• Gradually, let the child pay the bill and check the change
• Encourage educational games and games that simulate buying and selling
• If possible, give an allowance and teach that if the child wants to buy a more expensive game, he will have to save!

  • Creativity
A creative adult has an easier time dealing with day-to-day adversities and tends to perform well at work, for example. Therefore, creativity must be stimulated to prepare children for the future. But how to do it?
An alternative is to encourage games that explore the artistic side, such as drawing or painting, for example. Another option is to allow the child to have access to playful environments and also to practice reading from an early age. Thus, you stimulate the
    imagination and make-believe!
  • Citizenship
All citizens have rights and duties. And the adult person needs to know that! But, of course, all this knowledge can and should begin to be acquired in childhood. It is important that the little ones learn that there are laws, that there are taxes and that they should vote, for example.
So, to involve them in this environment, fathers, mothers and guardians can talk about the elections at home, take the child with them when they go to vote and, depending on their age, call the child to watch a report on the electoral process. In addition, it is possible to talk about topics of national repercussion, which, although controversial, are part of life in society.
Finally, take the children to participate in solidarity projects, such as distributing basic food baskets or collecting clothes in winter.
  • Sustainability
Concern for the environment is current and should increase even more in the future! After all, the scarcity of natural resources and degradation processes cannot be ignored, as they interfere with human life and the health of the planet. For this reason, to prepare children for the future, it is necessary for the family to awaken interest in this topic.

For this you can, for example:
• Invite the child to participate in the separation of organic and recyclable waste
• Explain the importance of separating waste for recycling
• Collect garbage from the beach or other public spaces, talking about the need for cleaning
• Stimulating the rational use of water and its reuse
• Having a vegetable garden at home
• Plant trees.

  • Diversity and Inclusion
Being included within society is everyone's right. And to prepare children for the future, they need to understand this very important topic. In this sense, from an early age, show the existence of accessibility signs in public places and explain the importance of these resources, for example.
Also, be aware of ramps and other adaptations, to tell the child how important this is for some people. Also, show that each person has their own needs, desires and fears, and that these must be respected. Also explain about colorism and point out the different skin tones in the world. And don't forget to address issues like racism and ableism as the child grows.
  • Technological education
Finally, to prepare children for the future, it is important to be informed about the technological world. Gradually, small and small should also know the technological tools and learn to use them safely and efficiently. Thus, in addition to giving children access to a computer or other tool, it is essential to provide adequate and instructive content.

I hope you like it, see you soon friends 😀
