A different kind of walk through Araya

I owed you this post. Two weeks ago, I told you in a previous post about my stay in Araya while it was raining. To be honest, it was a new experience for me, since in all the years and times I've visited the Araya Peninsula, it had never rained, and I'm very proud of the photos I took that day. You can see them in this post if you'd
like.

Well, since we had to stay, we decided to go early to the Araya Salt Flats, a place we had never been to, but had seen in photos. The owners of the inn where we were staying recommended it. Unfortunately, since it had rained all day the day before, the vehicles weren't making their usual route because the terrain gets muddy. So we had to walk a few meters. To our disappointment, the landscape, which is normally white from the salt and sometimes even pink, had an ochre and orange hue.

I recommend that if you go to this area, you use plenty of sunscreen, wear appropriate footwear, and cool, comfortable clothing, as well as a hat or cap. Since no one warned me, I went wearing plastic sandals that got stuck in some parts of the terrain, which can be very arid, full of sharp stones and coral fragments. Or, like that day, the rain created some slippery puddles.

If you're like me and enjoy searching for seashells and unique stones, you'll love this part of Araya, as you can find a variety of rocks, shell fragments, and coral. Since the area is relatively far from town, it's best not to go alone. That day, although some cars and motorcycles passed by, we were the only ones there.

Afterward, to do something different, instead of going to El Castillo Beach, we went to the beach by the pier, which is the first one you see when you arrive in Araya. We walked there and found it crowded, not only swimming but also playing games.

This beach, although it has crystal-clear water, isn't as blue as El Castillo Beach; the sand is also not white, but a more ochre color and less fine. However, it has many food and drink vendors nearby. You can also rent chairs, balls, and even swimsuits. Not to mention, it's close to the town and from there you can see the boats coming and going.

After swimming in the sea for a while and watching people having fun, we saw the boat that would take us to CumanΓ‘ arriving. We went back to the inn, which is near the dock, to get our things for boarding. We waited in line and bought our tickets, which cost $4. Then we went to the waiting room to wait to be called. The trip from Araya to CumanΓ‘ took less than 45 minutes and was pleasant, without much swell or any unexpected events. In the end, it was a different kind of trip: we saw the beach by the dock and the salt flats. I'm sure that next time, we'll visit other places.

Even though I put some on, the sun is so strong that it wasn't enough. Best regards

This kind of walk post works well because it carries a sense of place.

It is not only about showing a beach or a landscape. It is about giving readers a small route through Araya, with enough detail to feel like they are moving through the scene with you.

Hive needs more posts like this because local memory is hard to capture on fast social platforms.

I loved this post.
A few years ago, I spent several days in Araya and was blown away by the people and the sceneryβ€”especially the blue waters, which I fell in love with.
I hope to return soon, too.
I loved these photos; they brought back memories, @nancybriti1

I didn't know you'd visited us!! Araya has changed quite a bit. Right now, there's a boom in tourism, and that's a good thing, although with the water problem, many tourists are turning away. I hope you can come back soon. Best regards, my friend

I always say that Araya was a place where the people and the beaches made me happy, and I spent a lot of that time at El Merito.
Thank you, @nancybriti1
