We often claim that our life is complete shit, that we lead a rotten life, but what if you could imagine for a moment that the latter were true, and what if we are rotten and there is nothing to remedy it? Well, well, that's exactly what happens to Laura: she rots, just like that simple and easy, that's what this 2012 installment directed by Éric Falardeau is all about. I may have mentioned it before but I'm not a lover of low-budget films, but this one... this one really was worth every strand of hair the protagonist tossed out (note the sarcasm). It's distinctly indie; dark (both in light and plot); full of very graphic scenes, so despite the low lighting, we won't miss ABSOLUTELY NOTHING; of course it's full of blood, fluids... anything grotesque that has to do with gore, it's got it.
Muchas veces aseguramos que nuestra vida es una completa mierda, que llevamos una vida podrida, pero ¿y si te imaginaras por un momento que esto último fuese verdad? y ¿que si estamos podridos y no hay nada para remediarlo? Bueno, pues, exactamente es lo que le ocurre a Laura: se pudre, así de sencillo y fácil, de eso se trata esta entrega del 2012 dirigida por Éric Falardeau. Tal vez ya lo haya mencionado antes pero no soy amante de las películas de bajo presupuesto, pero esta… esta de verdad que valió cada hebra de cabello que la protagonista botó (nótese el sarcasmo). Es netamente independiente; oscura (tanto en la luz como en la trama); llena de escenas muy gráficas, así que a pesar de la escasa iluminación, no nos perderemos de ABSOLUTAMENTE NADA; por su puesto está llena de sangre, fluidos… cualquier cosa grotesca que tenga que ver con gore, lo tiene.
But what attracted me the most to this movie is not the dose of gore that I love so much, but to see little by little how Laura decays into dementia almost from the first moment, the lack of emotion in her day to day life, her frustrations, and of course, her daily struggle not to die. In other words, she literally goes crazy to survive and that same madness prevents her from thinking outside the box and seeking help. Everything happens in her apartment (which, by the way, has just been rented), few dialogues, few shots although she appears in all of them, several clips in the best Deep Web style but full of saturation and noise that serves as a guide to understand that a new chapter is coming (it is divided into three parts). The rawness and reality of each aspect made me think many times if it would be real or not what I was seeing, in that the director threw it overboard, in fact, after a while to start watching it, you forget that it is low budget because everything fits, every object, the furniture, the look of the apartment (if you see it, be careful with the ceiling, by the way). It has a lot of very dark hidden messages and also touches on issues such as abuse within a relationship, although the sexual theme will always be at the forefront. In fact (SPOILER), my favorite scene takes place in the middle of a murder and Laura masturbating, it's fucking crazy.
Pero lo que más me atrajo de esta película no es la dosis de gore que tanto amo, sino el ver poco a poco como Laura decae en la demencia casi desde el primer instante, la falta de emoción en su día a día, sus frustraciones, y por supuesto, su lucha diaria a no morir. O sea, literal la caraja se vuelve loca por sobrevivir y esa misma locura le impide pensar un poco más allá y buscar ayuda. Todo sucede en su apartamento (que de paso, recién alquilado), pocos diálogos, pocos planos aunque en todos sale ella, varios clips al mejor estilo de la Deep Web pero llenos de saturación y ruído que nos sirve de guía para entender que viene un nuevo capítulo (se divide en tres partes). La crudeza y realidad de cada aspecto me llevó a pensar muchas veces en si sería real o no lo que estaba viendo, en eso el director la botó por la borda, es más, ya al rato de empezar a verla, se te olvida que es de bajo presupuesto porque es que todo calza, cada objeto, los muebles, el aspecto del apartamento (si la ven, mucho ojito con el techo, por cierto). Tiene muchísimos mensajes ocultos muy oscuros y también tocan temas como el maltrato dentro de una relación, aunque siempre estará de primer lugar el tema sexual. De hecho (SPOILER), mi escena favorita transcurre en medio de un asesinato y Laura masturbándose, es una fucking locura.
Honestly, it's not a movie for everyone, more than one would end up crying of despair and vomiting in a corner, but yes, I loved it. What if I recommend it? Well, if you like gore and everything very explicit then yes, I do recommend it, but remember that it's R-rated, so it's not a film to spend the weekend with the family, it's not. Sinceramente, no es una película para cualquiera, más de uno terminaría llorando de la desesperación y vomitando en una esquina, pero si, la amé. ¿Qué si la recomiendo? Bueno, si te gusta tanto el gore y todo muy explícito entonces sí, si te la recomiendo, pero recuerden que tipo R, así que un film para pasar el fin de semana en plan familiar, no es. Yes, I love them, although I actually consider that I have seen very few.
I saw that this film has low points and the reason is that people find it boring or too overwhelming, I think that this style of movies is not for everyone, not because they are boring, but because they are usually full of a lot of messages that many people don't see.

Yo no he visto esta película, pero si de casualidad hace tiempo vi una reseña de un youtuber y practicamente la explico completa, así que ya me la puedo imaginar, una de las cosas que más menciono fue que además de revolverle el estomago le parecio muy aburrida y lenta, pero si comento que ha sido una de las películas gore más desesperantes que vio en su vida. Pero si le aplaudió la producción porque a pesar de ser de bajo presupuesto los efectos de maquillaje y sonido estuvieron estupendos, pero creo que no seria capaz de verla sin voltear para los lados.
Uy, si esta le pareció desesperante no me quisiera imaginar con otras que he visto🙊 a mi me causa el efecto contrario, tengo que tener la vista fija en cada detalle. Y pues, esta peli o bueno, este estilo, no es para todos, por eso comenté que no es para verla en familia.
