Music, my ally - La música, mi aliada

I've noticed that my musical tastes have changed over the years. However, there is always a constant when it comes to music and that is the beautiful way I usually turn it into my ally.

For example, I let music caress me in difficult moments, in moments of loneliness and even in moments of emptiness. Because you know that loneliness is not the same as emptiness.

Loneliness is a state that could seem tragic but it is in it where perhaps we are more lucid; And -you know that statement that has no discussion- and it is that even when we are accompanied, many times we continue alone.

If we are going to talk about emptiness, I would tell you that it hurts a lot, because it is a constant fall and fall without finding an end, or a point where everything ends and you can see that there are really many things to cling to. It is here where music has often saved me. They are the melodies or the lyrics of other people that sometimes save us.

I started thinking about what situation those creations were conceived in to which I open the door of my life as if they were my stories, and I believe myself the protagonist of them, of every word that reaches my ears. Isn't that strange? However, as strange as it may seem, it happens to all of us. We all live intensely in music, which becomes a faithful friend, a beautiful way to receive gifts, wishes, love.

Recently, I was asked a pretty curious question and it is this one that follows:

If you were a song, what would you be?

And the truth is that it was quite difficult to answer. Maybe you can do it without thinking too much. But what would we weigh here. Our past life? Our present? The state of mind that we prefer? Some unforgettable moment of inspiration that came while we were listening to that song? A desire? The memory of a great love? The immeasurable desire to be loved?

There can be so many things ... but you will not deny that you have been thinking about this, in what song you would be.

For the moment, I take the opportunity to leave a few songs here that were or are significant. Songs that make me happy, songs that I would like to be, perhaps, or that I was, or that I am.

Let's start for example with this song by Ismael Serrano which is one of my favorites and speaks of love in a very sublime way. I could dedicate this song to a great love, or even to myself. It is not strange what I am saying, just listen and you will see what I mean.

Dejo, por ejemplo que la música me acaricie en momentos difíciles, en otros de soledad y hasta en los de vacío. Porque fíjate que la soledad no es lo mismo que el vacío.

La soledad es un estado que pudiera parecer trágico pero es en ella donde quizás somos más lúcidos; y -ya sabes aquel planteamiento que no tiene discusión- y es que aún estando acompañados, muchas veces seguimos solos.

Si vamos a hablar del vacío, te diría que es algo que duele mucho, porque es un constante caer y caer sin encontrar un final, o un punto donde todo acabe y puedas ver que en realidad existen muchas cosas de las cuales aferrarse. Es aquí donde la música muchas veces me ha salvado. Son las melodías o las letras de otras personas las que a veces nos salvan.

Me he puesto a pensar en qué situación fueron concebidas esas creaciones a las que abro la puerta de mi vida como si fueran historias mías, y me creo la protagonista de ellas, de cada palabra que llega a mis oídos. ¿No es extraño esto? Sin embargo, por raro que parezca a todos nos pasa. Todos vivimos intensamente en la música, que se convierte en una fiel amiga, en una manera hermosa de recibir regalos, deseos, amor.

Hace poco me hicieron una pregunta bastante curiosa y es esta que sigue:

¿Si fueras una canción, cuál serías?

Y la verdad aquello fue bastante difícil de responder. Quizás tú puedas hacerlo sin pensar mucho. Pero qué sopesaríamos aquí. ¿Nuestra vida pasada? ¿Nuestro presente? ¿El estado de ánimo que preferimos? ¿Algún momento de inspiración inolvidable que llegó mientras escuchábamos esa canción? ¿Un deseo? ¿El recuerdo de un gran amor? ¿Las ganas inconmensurables de ser amada?

Pueden ser tantas cosas… pero no me negarás que te has quedado pensando en esto, en qué canción serías.

Por el momento, aprovecho para dejar unas cuantas canciones aquí que fueron o son significativas. Canciones que me llenan de felicidad, canciones que me gustaría ser, quizás, o que fui, o que soy.

Empecemos por ejemplo por este tema de Ismael Serrano que es una de mis preferidas y habla del amor de una manera muy sublime. Esta canción pudiera dedicarla a un gran amor, o incluso a mí misma. No es extraño lo que estoy diciendo, solo escucha y verás lo que te digo.

I already know, I'm a hopeless romantic. For example, this is a song by Cuban composer, guitarist and singer Marta Valdés. Listen to that melody... I brought this version by Gema Corredera, who is also a great exponent of music in our country, but I also really like this interpretation by Haydée Milanés, where Marta Valdés herself participates.

Este tema que viene a continuación me gustaría escucharlo en algún lugar bonito y mágico de La Habana, en un bar de esos de azoteas con luces tenues y una brisa fresca. Por supuesto que mientras escribo mi mente vuela demasiado y no hay que ir tan lejos, ¿verdad? 😅

Ya sé, soy una romántica empedernida. Sin ir más lejos, es una canción de la compositora, guitarrista e intérprete cubana Marta Valdés. Escucha esa melodía… he traído esta versión en la voz de Gema Corredera, que es también una gran exponente de la música en nuestro país, pero también me gusta mucho esta interpretación by Haydée Milanés, en donde participa la propia Marta Valdés.
