Follow Friday - 'Hansum men'

avatar

I haven't done a follow Friday post for a while so as it's Friday, and I have an hour to kill, why not? Each of the lovely folks mentioned will be getting a 20% beneficiary payment.

Firstly, we start with some new members and a sincere thank you to the Pakistan and Indian communities for their recent onboarding efforts. To encourage sign-ups, they were offering hair care products and fake Raybans as inducements to join and boy did they nail it as you can see from the new member's gallery that I artistically created on my under-utilised Canva pro subscription.

who_doesn_t_love_a_septic_tank_1_.jpg

When we have nice things, like the wonderful curators who try to help new users with large upvotes, some piece of shit has to come along and attempt to take the piss and from what I can gather, all these users are nothing more than fake accounts, designed to hit a big upvote on their intro post. How many votes that could have gone to genuine users have been wasted on frauds. I hate scammers.

Might I respectfully suggest that the various meet and greet committees at least look a little deeper at 'new' members who post directly into communities other than 'introduceyourself'.

Anyway, now for some nice people!

@littlebee4 writes awesome articles daily and is like an engagement machine. A lovely person who never fails to comment and reply, she gives me reading material daily and is fast becoming a superstar around these parts.
If you ever wanted a walk around the Cliffs and Ravines of Malta. Follow the link!

There are currently a lot of community 'magazines' being published each week which I think are brilliant, @neoxian have been publishing weekly magazines for ages but recently I was happy to see one of my favourite communities, architecture+design, have started a really polished and professional-looking magazine, edited by the lovely @storiesoferne. The community is so well moderated and the standards very high so go and take a look at A+DPOST™, Architecture+Design Community Magazine, Volume 1 Issue 2 May 2022: Eternal Fountains.

I also came across a @pinmapple post this week from a fairly new member @dtam who is an adventurer! This post in which he paddleboards amongst glaciers in Alaska has photos of some stunning scenery. Must have been bloody freezing!

No I know I am sometimes a little scathing of the 'how to make a car from 4 bottle tops two pencils and a cornflake packet' type posts because generally, they are shit BUT this post was really nice and shows you how to make a lovely card with flowers that genuinely looks great. The young lady's name is @avanthius who is a very new user from Sri Lanka whom I hope will keep posting and creating great posts. Nice to have someone new to follow,

image.png

@avanthius delightful card

And that's it for this week. Hats off to all the curators, I don't know how you find stuff to curate as I struggle to find much I actually want to read. The feeds are just full of Leo finance posts and much as I admire the people behind the community and their incredible rate of development, I find a lot of the content to be absolute dross.

I would love to see better ways of setting up personalised feeds. As an @ecency user, I seem to miss a lot of posts from the people I follow which saddens me. All the re-blogs don't help, I wish I could turn them off!

Have a great weekend folks and my best wishes to you all.

Do you know the legal name of @themarkymark ???? It is needed to contact his local police station. Any information to his whereabouts would be much appreciated.

Hi @nathen007 😁 such a great post… I so agree with you on many levels.

Thank you so much for the kind words, that’s so nice to hear 😊 truly appreciated!
Doing my bit… to help the community in any way I can. And getting to know the people here in hive, especially as I’m still new here 😉

For the personalised feed… I get what you mean. The reblogs just fill up most. What I do in the morning and evening. Is go through the feed of friends in ecency. And comment on most of them, not the reblogs just the posts my friends posted. Can’t do all… as I’m not an AI hahaha but quite a lot 😎 Then I have a quick look through trending and hot. If some photo or headline catches my attention. I have a look. This way I do find interesting posts to read and support.
If not I go into my communities and support them 😁 I do like engaging, but I so notice the replies I get back are not vast… it would be nice more people would understand that engagement helps in so many ways.
It would be nice if there was an option to personalise the feed a bit more 🤓 who knows, maybe in the future.
Have a wonderful day further!

You made a very good point that titles and headlines, also the first few lines of the post that appear, are very important to catch peoples eye and make them want to read further.

Engagement is the most important thing on Hive as it allows you to make new friends and especially if you're not a great writer (like me for instance!) it creates connections between people who are then more inclined to vote on your post, especially if its honest and sincere as opposed to simply brilliant!

How I wish we had a few thousand of you here!

Have a great week and thank you as always :-)

Morning 👋🏻☀️ @nathen007
Yes, that is how everybody looks. Something needs to catch their eye, to click on a post to explore further.

Yes, even in my few months around here, I understood that that is sooo important. Engagement. Luckily I love it 🤣🤣
And that is great, also for the reason you mention. If you get to know people, they will be around and support you. But this you reach through engagement. So not only what you post matters. The comment section underneath is where the magic happens! 🤩

Aaawwww thank you ☺️ that would be great… maybe one day, when we grow a bit more.
Thank you kindly 😁 have an amazing week too!

You mean littlebee who released one of the nicest airbrush articles I've seen in however long I've been here and reblogs so much I'm hesitant to click follow cuz I'm not a fan of hurting feelings by unfollowing because of excessive reblogs? Never heard of'er.

Very cool thing you did here NathenThailand .com.

Hahaha thanks @dandays 😁😎
I’m reblogging less and less… as I notice the opposite side of it lately 😉 I will try to get it down to 3 or 4 a week. Just saying 😁

Over here, this one, hello littlebee.

We don't just share artsy stuff then. My wife and I travelive also, I made that word up myself, you're welcome to use it. We've lived in 13 countries so far, toured 16 in total and are currently in England. We just got here last month. We'll add two more countries to our tour total in about 8 days beginning with Czech, then Hungary.

I've lived in, like months at a time if not years or longer, in at least 15 of the states back home, ventured probably 40 of them, toured coast to coast four times etcetera. I have this insatiable and at times daunting inability to sit still. All I've ever wanted is to be somewhere I don't want to leave.

When you say Malaga is scorching, what do you mean in numbers? I'm originally from Los Angeles, California ("home") so I've been all through the Mojave Desert and Death Valley, Las Vegas etc in summer months when temperatures reach 125-130 F.

Your English is very good, are you using a translator?

I'm glad we crossed paths. Probably best we did here in the comment section rather than my content, especially if you got thin skin. Just kidding, totally not.

Found it @dandays 😁👋🏻

That’s a cute word travelive. Says it all basically, will have to remember.
So cool we have more in common. That’s a lot. I have lived in 5 so far. And I stopped counting after 30 moves… I just couldn’t add it up anymore. The last time I lived somewhere over 1 year… hhhmmmm been awhile hahaha 🤣

So you know a lot about the states, especially as you have truly explored them and not just lived in one area. I might want to ask you some questions about Mass. and New England if you don’t mind. Pretty cool that you guys can do this. My work allows me to live anywhere… as I always take it with me 😉🎨
Would love to travel coast to coast… rebuild a little (camper) van and explore. Yep all up for that. When my hubby retires, we will do just that. We are a little tied to his work, soon it relocates us. (Again)

It definitely can get about 95F (125F it won’t reach) but if you lived in that area and traveled Death Valley it won’t be a problem. Just remember the houses here along the south coast are not build for summer or winter. It is either to warm or to cold inside. They have no insulation or heating. Some have air conditioning for cooling. But other parts of Spain are definitely different. So it all depends where you end up exploring.

Thank you, I’m not using a translator. I was born in France, moved to Germany my first spoken language then at the age of 6 to the Netherlands where I lived about 28 years, so my passport says I’m Dutch. After that moved to Spain, Malta and back to Spain. So I’m European without roots hahaha I just moved to much. I didn’t have English in school back in the days. But I started learning it myself when I started my art in 2011. Through tv, movies and music. I learned it the parrot fashion way. I met my husband almost 6 years ago…. He is British. And that has helped a lot. So I speak Engles at home since 5 years. But that doesn’t help the writing bit hahaha 🤣
When I started here with Hive last December. I discovered some words are not written how I thought they were. So I made quite some mistakes in the beginning. Hubby was proofreading it and corrected me.
I’m learning as I go along posting and commenting here. I do have difficulties with to and too, build and built, heart and heard… a and an… those kind of words… but working on it. 🤓
The things Hive teaches us is so much more. For me it is English. I speak 4 languages fluent now. The 5th Spanish I understand all, just my pronunciation can be off sometimes speaking back… it’s not fluent yet.

Yes, glad we crossed paths too… nope no thin skin here 😎😉
Enjoy your day further. Happy to chat anytime 👋🏻

Add that to our shared interests—married a Brit. She was born in the US but her father was pure British. A northerner.

I learned that whole insulated walls thing with cold and hot housing in Greece. I'm such a princess, two of the boxes I check when shopping Air B&B are A/C and heat. Those along with WiFi, entire house, washer/dryer, microwave, coffee pot, other stuff, Princess.

I see native English speakers screw up too and to all the time, I'm embarrassed for them—shameful. Totally acceptable when English isn't your first language. Don't let it bother you. Fascinating about build/built, heart/heard, I never paid them any attention but I see how they could be confusing.

You're doing great.

Is Malta as standoffish toward tourists as I've heard? As Americans, we regularly have targets on our backs anyway but I hear Malta has a slightly territorial culture, would you agree? Every time we hear these things, it goes in one ear and out the other anyway but I still hear it, I just won't form an opinion until I experience the place myself. Anything you need to know about the states, just say the word, I'm pretty good at them. Maybe stay away from "the south", go ahead an experience it for yourself if you want but don't say I didn't warn you.

Looks like you're learning Hive quickly, have fun, tell all your friends. If you haven't been warned about discord yet, allow me—stay off it completely, don't even download the app. It's done me more harm than good.

That’s pretty cool we have even more in common @dandays 😎 wow. Cool indeed.

Hahaha princess… lol 🤣 funny, but if you travel you do want some nice things, right? I agree… why not 😇 I do check some of those boxes too hahaha

Love learning 🤓 yes, those words. I know the difference between them (hearing it) but seeing them written down (as one word) I didn’t know which one was what. As when I pronounce them… it sounds the same. Now I pay attention to it hahaha quite funny in a way.
Thank you that’s kind 😁

About Malta, we lived there one year and only encountered once something like that. They didn’t want us to enter a restaurant. As not locals. They thought first we were tourists. But even expats nope… we were shipped off with. But looking back we found another nice restaurant.
I think if you are open minded and don’t behave as “tourists” you will be all fine. Just show interest in the country, people and culture than it’s all ok. I learned that in my travels. Especially when you go off the beaten path, like we always do. The things you learn and the adventures you have than 🤩 that’s living. We try to avoid touristy things… always hahaha 🤣

I so understand the south of the states bit… yep not our cup of tea. I will visit some parts but we are focusing now on New England and especially Massachusetts. What do you think about that state? Living, exploring wise.

O that I had not heard of yet… but will keep it in mind. Thanks for that.
Have a wonderful evening!
👋🏻😎

Alright ima click your follow button now but might I make a suggestion without offending you? And, should I click unfollow, please don't take it personally, it doesn't mean I don't like you, it just means you're distracting. I have plenty of vendettas against me. It's exhausting. Your original content and engagement are worth keeping an eye now don't disappoint!!

Suggestion—consider cross-posting less. I've never cross-posted but I understand the purpose. In my opinion, one cross-post is plenty. But like traveliving, take what I say with a grain of salt and form your own opinion. People, mostly women, get furious and sensitive when I unfollow them and the fact I'm even explaining myself is why I'm posting less and less and less here but anyway..

Funny you mention Massachusetts. Remember I said I've toured at least 40 states? Well, the only part of the country I never made it to yet is the North East, these states to be specific:

img_1946.png

Have you met @cmplxty? He's in Mass, anything to know about the North East, he's my guy. And as far as Boston, lean on @oldsoulnewb, they're both good people.

How you described Malta is basically the impression I've heard from others. Now I definitely need to experience it for myself. My wife and I are the same way—off the beaten path type, less touristy, more authentic type.

I'm glad we 'met,' @littlebee4, congratulations on all the attention you're receiving here, well deserved.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I'll lean on you for tips before we land in Spain. Anywhere else stateside, however, let me know. Especially LA, no one stands a chance navigating LA like me and my wife is from San Francisco so you get the best of both California worlds with us.

Hi @dandays 😁

Yeah!! You clicked 😉 do not worry your pretty little head about that. I’m sure not one of the “normal” women around 😎 I don’t get that offended easily. A lot needs to happen for that. I’m an old soul and had a very interesting life so far. So I saw a lot.
I take people how they are… never change! And if I’m distracting… please do unfollow. Just let’s keep in touch once in a while. It’s nice chatting to you and sharing experiences.
I won’t disappoint. I truly appreciate your pointers, especially from someone that’s around for a while. What do I know… as a newbie of 6 months hahaha not much lol
I will keep the reblogs and cross posting in mind. I only did those when a post can be shared in more communities. (Like pinmapple asked me to share mine there too) but I look further into it and minimise it a bit more. Thanks!

Really that’s the area you haven’t been hahaha lol 😂 that’s funny. Are those areas you circled in the map still places you want to go to?
I’m asking about that area specifically, because work is relocating us and we could choose out of a few. And so far Mass is on top of our list. We are encountering some delays as there are tons of backlogs paper wise and many people involved. But we will get there and we are patience 😉 it takes as long as is needed. When on the other side… yes we will travel the states, can’t wait. We have of course visited some and me and my husband have/had friends there we visited regularly. His friends moved back to the UK.
Will for sure ask you when going towards those places. When we crossed the pond.
What better info than getting it first hand 🤩

Of course I connected with @cmplxty 😁👋🏻 Hi you!
Found him through his great posts. And been talking for a bit 😎 @oldsoulnewb I don’t know (yet)

You sure need to experience places yourself as everybody is different, and my experiences won’t be yours. But by the sounds of it we are quite alike and have lots in common.

Thank you so much that’s nice to hear. Me too… glad we “met”
Yes, ask away… I’m here.
So far the weekend is great, hope yours too. Enjoy it 👋🏻😁
Say hi to your wife.

Oh I absolutely want to. And will, just haven't had the opportunity yet. There's a couple things I still haven't seen in the states, Niagara Falls is one. Been all through NYC, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Jersey, etcetera but not Upstate yet to Buffalo where Niagara is.

And New England is on the list for sure, I love fish and seafood. Like, all of it except for lobster. I won't eat lobster. But I've always been told the best is in New England so I won't say 'never again' until I have lobster in New England.

Fun fact: My career spanned me coast to coast and I worked with brothers and sisters from all over the country. The rowdiest, always wanna fight, looking for a fight type brothers (and sisters) always seem to be from Boston. <3

That’s great. I can imagine… so much to discover. And all states are so unique. More like countries, with their own character. I still have so much on our list what to see and vist. 😎

Yep love fish too, hubby a bit less but we still enjoy it. We sure have to find out one day how the lobster 🦞 is 😉

Really… interesting to hear.
Hope your weekend was wonderful @dandays 😁 it’s already Monday again.

I'm very lucky that I have the nicest people drop by to visit my nonsense. I agree about the 'stop following' thing....the reblogs drive me crazy sometimes but the people do it with the best intentions and unfollowing and muting is going to hurt peoples feelings.

You're going to dine out on nathenthailand.com for a while aren't you? LOL....Happy to make you smile, even if it was a happy accident!

You two take care and enjoy your travels :-)
